Rough day for sure yesterday, missed some plays by a goal here and there, and some unexpected results as well, but alas we move forward to today:

Canada -1.5 over Finland/o5.5/Canada TT o3.5/Finland TT o1.5/CAN/FIN o1.5 1P/CAN/FIN o1.5 2P/CAN/FIN o1.5 3P

Final preliminary game here as both teams come in 2/0 with the winner advancing straight to the quarterfinals. Carey Price will be in net for Canada while Kari Lehtonen is in the pipes for Finland.  On paper this stacks up to be a nice Canada win but it is the goaltending that will either help or hurt either one of these two teams.  This wager loses if Lehtonen continues his nice Sochi run in goal.  H2H wise Canada has owned this matchup going 4/1 in their last five but those date back 2006 to 2012.  Different teams for both here, but I can see a nice 4/2 Canada win here.

Russia Women -2 over Japan/u4.5/RUS/JPN o1.5 +105 3P

Classification strictly only match here as the host country most likely closes out their run here after a disappointing performance to say the least.  Really felt they would get a surprising Medal but that was not the case.  Russia and Japan also meet for the second time in the Olympics, their first meeting going the Russian way, 2/1. Russia wins this 3/0 IMO.

Sweden struggled their way though the rounds to qualify for this match, and yet a bit surprising they are here as I felt this would be a match versus Finland.  However that was not the case, so therefore this is the game that maybe USA or CAN did not want to play, but nonetheless, outside of their 3/2 loss to CAN USA has sort of rolled through and I can see this being the breakthrough game they had similar to versus Switzerland.  USA defeated SWE 8/1 last November, prior to that game in four other matches, Sweden has maintained a mere 4 goals in the prior 10 years they've faced each other. I want to take the o6.5 also, but am staying pat, USA wins this 6/0 or 7/1.

Rematch of the Opening Round saw CAN take a 5/0 win over the Swiss.  Prior match was a 13/0 defeat of Switzerland in April of last year, and the last two prior to that was a 10/1 win in Vancouver and a 12/0 win in 2011.  I wagered that CAN would romp the Swiss, was wrong, feel I will not be this time, this has the makings of a dd goal effort again and a thrashing on the ice.

I'm staying away from the semi's......I think once the USA and Canada get up 4 or 5 goals...they'll coast....save their energy for the gold medal game....and they know the IOC doesn't want to see blowouts....or they will get rid of women's hockey as an Olympic sport......Canada nor the USA wants this...they just want to keep adding medals.....lol. But, I could be wrong......

I agree. I don't think it'll be that easy for them to cruise to 4 or 5 goal leads. I think they'll take 3 goal goal leads and back off from there. In the preliminaries, your goals for/ goals against ratio counts for positioning, but that doesn't exist in the semis. There's no point in continuing to hammer a lesser opponent who doesn't threaten. I see both being 4-1 games. I'm on both unders and taking the points.

Qualifications are a nice way to play whom you never thought you would and to not care really.  Last three matches between these two have gone over this total.

Mariners stated it well, horrible Japan squad, Germany squad whom beat Japan already 4/0, gave other squads a tough battle throughout this tournament.  I feel Japan scores, but it only helps the total here.

Russia Men -3.5 over Norway/o5.5

Russia has been absolutely brutal in these Olympics, but it's time to nut up or shut up, can see this being a lashing for the host city versus a Norwegian team that really has no shot.

Switzerland Men -1.5 over Latvia

The Swiss really have performed well here, beating Latvia in the first game 1/0 but while Latvia has been able to score, Switzerland's defense has been a pleasant surprise, I am taking the chance that that occurs again and the Swiss can get a nice two goal win.

Nice hit on Russia, I had Norway at +125 juice, absolutely sick to my stomach....  Also had a field bet ready to go against Sven winning the 10000m speedskating at +525 until I got talked out of it by multiple people saying he was a mortal lock to win......

IMO the last match was a mirage, not the type of game that really either team cared for, doesn't really help when you are #1 and #2 and have to face teams that maybe media and critics think will give you a tough time after your match, but when you are those teams you have that strong feeling of victory no matter what.  So with that being said, USA is better, has been for two years now, the Gold goes to the US here, 3/2 or 4/2 final in Regulation.

No hutch, I honestly did not think either cared because when you come into the Group already knowing you are getting a Bye, that it just determined who you were facing in the Semifinals, yes I believe both just went out there get the win but was not that important based on their Semifinals match
