How to hit 70% (or better) in MLB using Teamrankings.com

Al you left out COL...solid breakdown though and I agree 100% with the Yanks.

NYY +8.4 (Sabathia/Guthrie)

BOS +6.5 (Lester/Cecil)

COL +6.3 (Smith/Benson)

NYM +5.2 (Maine/Ely)

MIN +4.5 (Baker/Scherzer)

I don't like the matchup with MIN/DET (Baker still up & down, Scherzer starting strong) so that's out.  Both COL & NYM have unreliable starters going so it's tough to back them.  BOS seems like a decent option, but Cecil is a young lefty who pitched a pretty good game @ TB his last start.  I just think the NYY coming off a loss with CC going (career 9-1 vs BAL, 2.55 ERA, .209 BAA in 14 starts) is money in the bank.  Add in Al's pointing out BAL's record against lefties and there's no other option today that's even close to the NYY.

Yeah, like I said yesterday I thought MIN was a pretty strong pick too.

I like STL as well, but NYY is the "play of the day" for me.

Been following this thread for the past week or two... would like to get more involved.  Add me to friends if you guys don't mind (SixTen & Nabil)

If you factor the Yanks pitching match-up today and also The Rizz's series system (i.e. three games or more/opening game - team favoured over -150 to win the series has a significantly high percentage of winning the first game - which did not occur last night of course but the consensus seems to be this was due the aforementioned outside influences) I think the Yankees are a very high percentage play tonight

Ok......I put together the top 5 teams according to this system.  I'm not trying to wax poetic here.......I'm just trying to see if I have the system down right.

OK.......so I used the 'OVERALL' power rankings, According to this system should I use 'AWAY' power Rankins for the away team and 'HOME' Power Rankings for the Home Team?
I also highlighted in Blue the teams I liked the best using this system primarily as afilter to choose advantageous games. I liked the NYM out of these 5 & highlighted them in blue because they're streaking, I liked the pitching matchup, and I thought theyd complete the sweep. They did. .  I liked the NYY and highlighted them in blue not because they had the highest Poer Ranking differential but because they have their Ace on the mound, I really like this pitching matchup, I really like this game. I like StL because of the pitching matchup and I think they'll close out the series with a win at home.

I was just hoping someone could look at what I did and let me know I understand the system. Thanks! Cheers! And BOL!

OK........I see, all of my numbers differ because I used 'OVERALL' power rankings instead of 'HOME' and 'AWAY' power rankings respectively.  I see, Thanks Capskip......

Today when I first learned the system I used 'OVERALL' Power Rankings. Above is the correct way according to the system, using the 'HOME' & 'AWAY' Power Rankings, respectively.
Even the 'Wrong Way' with 'OVERALL' Power Ranking fared well for me today, going 3-0 with the highlighted blues I liked and 4 out of the 5 hit so here's tommorow's based on 'OVERALL' Power Rankings:

MIN:  104.3   (R) Pavano (3-1, 4.24 ERA) +4.5
StL:  102.5   (R) Wainright (3-1, 1.69 ERA) +3.9

BAL:  94.3   (L) Matusz (2-0, 4.38 ERA)

TB:  104.0   (R) Garza (3-1, 2.17 ERA)  +5.0
