My 5 teams for today are as follows:NYY,LAD,SLC,TEX.,A'S. Where does Minn.come into play as they are only+2.0.Thanks

I used the Rankings that from last night before they were updated this morning. With Last night's Power Ranking's Minn was +4.5.
Using the updated Power Rankings from this morning, my 5 now match yours.

I will break down the new series starting today/tomorrow in a bit.  As far as today's games:

Pitching matchup between OAK/TOR too close to call.  Same with TEX/CWS.

Obviously the Yanks are heavy favorites here, but Matusz is a stud in the making & the Yanks haven't seen him yet.  It's not impossible for him to throw a great game.  Burnett has a poor career ERA against Baltimore and was much worse on the road last year.  I'll stay away from this one too.

I love Wainwright and the Cards today.  He's lights-out at home.  Jurrjens was a good pitcher last year, so he could sneakily toss a good game against a Cards team who might bench a starter or two with a day game following a night game.  Gotta see if that's going to be the case.

Pirates on a travel day from MIL to LA against Kershaw at home looks good too...although LA just had to go from NY back home.  Yeah he walks a lot of guys but his BAA against since last year at home is under .200.  PIT is throwing out Brian Burres who's got a 9+ ERA today.

Tough call...let me research a bit more.

Wainwright 4-0 in 4 starts vs Braves.  Career at home: 2.67 ERA.  Chipper out of the Braves lineup today, Braves 3rd-worst hitting & 4th-worst scoring team in MLB even WITH him.

Outside of getting rocked in San Diego, Jurjjens actually has pitched pretty well this year and he has a 2.14 ERA in 3 starts against the Cards.  Still hard to believe he's going to get any run support.

The Dodgers just had a pretty bad road trip and may get things back in order with a home game against a staff with a 7.71 road ERA.  Dodgers are hitting .309 @ home and like I said before, Kershaw is unhittable at home.

Just thinking out loud...although I like them both, I might lean LAD as my top pick.  Any other thoughts?

LA is definitely due for a win and the ingredients are there for an LA win. The only pitfall I see is a team playing game 1 after a long road trip and also the travel back from east coast.  But still would have to agree that's probably the best match-up with this PR system.

I think they will - back at home facing what equates to an underhand softball pitching staff.

LAD RL is my play today.  Chalky, I know...

Gonna parlay the ML with another game too, similar to what I did with the Yanks/Cards yesterday.  I'll let you know what I decide in case anyone is interested.

Remember, PIT had to travel from MIL too.

Bannedit - any time a guy like Pujols is out of a lineup I tend to stay away.  Team records and stats are reflective of teams with their normal starters, so whenever that changes drastically for a game you never know what impact that'll have.  Backing Wainwright at home though against a bad offense is never a terrible decision, just too many variables for my taste.  Good luck if you play it!

I find it hard to justify a 8-13 team laying -300 (and -135 on the runline) to a 9-12 team, regardless of who is pitching.  Kershaw might be solid at home, but he did pitch alot of no-decisions last year and tends to be a 6 inning pitcher (but who isn't these days except halladay and linncicum).

My question is if dodgers don't provide early run support, can we count on their bullpen to not give the game away?

Point taken - but in this situation home field means a great deal.  LAD are the consummate home team so far with the consummate home SP going while PIT is an awful squad on the road.  Yeah they pulled off 2 in a row but their last one was a 14-inning affair before their travel to LA.  Do you really think PIT is going to reel off a third straight road win behind a SP with a career 6.19 ERA and an overall staff with a 7.71 road ERA?

PR system for team's collective relief pitching might be a good idea to add.

True both teams are traveling.  My point was that LA is coming back home after an extended road trip so it's a different mindset than a team that is on its current road trip. They probably cancel each other out considering it is Pitt after all.

I would think coming home as opposed to traveling to another road city would serve as more advantage for LA.

yes but you are re-grouping after traveling to different cities and tending to personal stuff.There is a distraction factor that sometimes comes into play. I have noticed this trend with other games.  Just my opinion. But maybe over- analyzing.  what do I know!

Yeah, I'll parlay the Dodgers ML with the HOU ML.  Oswalt will stave off getting swept at home against Arroyo.

That Brian Burres is terrible, who is filling in for Ohlendorf'.

13.5 ERA, 2.50 whip, 6 ER, 8 hits, in 4 IP/S. in L3
