OK, got a copy of excel 2010 and it works great. This explains why some of your plays do not always correspond with mine for the System plays. You've incorporated the div. dog, low scoring dog and under 6 hits. Great job on the spreadsheet.

Here is where I am confused. I thought the spreadsheet would relate criteria (and maybe it does) for determining RRL plays. Is this proprietary information? On post 229 the RRL plays are listed for 5/11 as Philly, Cubs and NYY, yet none of these were EFF plays. I was under the impression that RRL and EFF plays were closely related. What am I missing here? Can someone enlighten me.
    THANK YOU

The RRL column is simply a % of how effective that team is winning as a dog by 2 or more runs.  So if it's .500, then of all the games that team played as a dog - they won by 2 or more runs 50% of the time.

Right now it's just additional information to help you decide if you want to bet the RRL - it's your option if you want to use that info your not.

What i have been doing is if a team qualifies as a general play and has a DOG EFF score of .400 and over and does not have a conflicting DOG EFF SCR (i.e loses money as dog and fav wins money as fav) - then I will play the team - and if it has a decent RRL score (i.e .400 or better) I will put 1/2 unit on RRL.  So if they DOG wins by 1 - I win 1/2 unit - if the dog wins by 2 then I win both.  If it loses I obviously lose 1 and 1/2 units.

but I'm trying to figure out better ways to play the systems to make the most profit.  Hopefully, tracking will bring out the best way to bet these systems.

Degen great idea tracking reverse lines, there is huge value in those plays.

    Hitting 16-2 amazing

I think this could relate to NHL next season.

I'm sorry but I still don't get it.  Let's look at yesterday number

Phily has more than .400 for all categories but it has -40 as Fav and it has been picked as a play yesterday.  Is there any other criteria?  Thanks,

Phily has more than .400 for all categories but it has -40 as Fav and it has been picked as a play yesterday.  Is there any other criteria?  Thanks,

    Let me try and explain.

The DOG EFF SCORE system only looks at the last two columns. We are looking for a dog with a positve score playing a fave with a negative score. Looking at today's sheet Clev is a dog at +17 and Phil is a fave at -40, triggering a play (and a winner!) for today. Nothing else matters for this system except those two columns.

All of the teams that qualify for any of the 4 systems is a SYSTEM PLAY . Full description here: https://www.betfirms.com/baseball-betting-systems-underdogs/

The DOG EFF system looks at those dogs that already qualify for a System Play as described above. The added filter is the two columns marked as Overall Dog Eff and Using Odds Dog Eff. If a qualifying system play has a score of .400 or better in BOTH columns then it is a DOG EFF system play. An example from today is Seattle, while SD would not qualify.

I hope that helps, if not, ask away.

    Thank you, what about

Texas:  Overall Dog Eff .750 and Using Odds Dog Eff .667

Arizona:  Overall Dog Eff .533 and Using Odds Dog Eff .400

    Should they qualified too?

I stand corrected. They weren't dogs when I originally ran the system this morning before the first game. They moved to dog status so I didn't capture that. So, if you could have bet them as dogs they both would have qualified for Dog EFF plays as well as System plays.

Haha, good catch. Just an FYI, I run the update on the spreadsheet before the first game of the day and post the plays at that time. Games may fall in or out of the system but I can't account for that. If anyone wants to run this for their personal betting shortly before a game later in the day, they can certainly do that but I'm not going to alter the official plays (within reason).

In the case of Tex and AZ if we would have caught that prior to the game being played, we could have revised the official plays. Perhaps if I'm able to reach my goal and retire early in 5 years, i'll be able to just sit on the computer and update the sheet 10-15 before each game. lol

Best way is to "refresh odds" right before you plan on wagering (NOT update, do that only once, right when you open the sheet that day.  A low dog may go dog, fav, dog, fav.  We are all here to find the best strategy(s) to win.  I'm tracking 3g chases from the A game of a series right now that's doing well...28/29 and 2 since Apr 29th (I haven't updated since Sunday), up about 27 units.  See post #247.

There has been a lot of controversy around the spreadsheet regarding "when" it was ran/updated during the day and what were the plays when the user updated it.  Well I updated a new version (V10) - same link.

I am now pulling "opening odds" and added a column for "current odds"  - maybe that will help.  Now keep in mind if the opening odds is a dog - and goes to a favorite before you put in your bet - I advise not betting that game

The Opening Odds is the Vegas Insider Opening Odds - and the current odds are the VI Consensus - but that can easily be changed to LVH, MGM, William Hill, Wynn / Ceasars - I can change it just need a recommendation.

I now also dynamically pull in the schedule - so there should be no issues where a game is not listed (i.e Double Header or Rescheduled Game) - the trade off is you can't go back or forward and look at matchups - but that's not very important for this particular spreadsheet.

You can still use V9 if you like - this is just a different flavor.  It actually added a couple more plays since the opening line for TEX and BOS today - they were dogs - which by the way both won.

    Enjoy!

well said....take note: the line-up cards go to the HP umpire 20 minutes before the first pitch, if their are any irregularities, scratches, or SP adjustments that reflect the odds to change this is when it will happen, this is when handicaps are coordinated and wagers are made, serious cappers seldom, if ever bet on MLB outside of the 20 minute window. my best

I really hate to be a pest but I am lost when it comes to the RRL plays. White Sox have won only 4 times by 2 or more runs in 18 tries as a dog for a 0.22 %. How do they qualify as a RRL play. Or for that matter any of the above except maybe KC

    Thank You

So the last two columns as dog and as fav why is there two numbers? One on top and one on bottom. Also, for the rrl if the third box is over .400 then you bet on rrl also?

Degen, he's right. The Sagarin ratings on the spreadsheet are not correct. I looked at the updated link for NL pitchers and it's a bit different then the spreadsheet (after I ran the update).

From post 283 on the final two columns:The DOG EFF SCORE system only looks at the last two columns. We are looking for a dog with a positve score playing a fave with a negative score. Looking at today's sheet Clev is a dog at +17 and Phil is a fave at -40, triggering a play (and a winner!) for today. Nothing else matters for this system except those two columns.

I have not been able to determine how S_N picks games for the RRL.

so what would be plays as of now? Last two columns have numbers on top and bottom. Which numbers do we use.

    Thursday 5/16 system plays:

    Dog EFF Score

    YTD 10-10, +2.34 units

    No plays

    Dog EFF

    YTD 30-24, +25.88 units

    All 2 units

    Boston 127

    System Plays

    YTD 104-104, +25.29 units

    Boston 127

    Mil 134

    ChiSox 124

    Colo 101

    Det/Tex Under 7.5 -110

The Colorado game is one I'll keep an eye on and refresh later to check odds. If they move from positive or even to - odds I'll remove them as a play.
