I am starting my streak today with Arkansas at +10.5 I like them as a strong road team and look for them to continue that hard nose defense they've touted all year!

    DAY 10 RECAP

    CARNAGE IN THE BATTLE FORUM!

The carnage in the Battle Forum is spreading like the plague. Smoothd took the brunt of the carnage hemorrhaging 550 points while plunging down to 14th. Smoothd was looking pretty solid after Week 1 but has now lost 670 points the last 2 days. He went winless today going 0-5. But Smoothd wasn't alone on the casualty list. GhostRunner lost an incredible 560 points after making 29 picks JohnnyUtah style. DS0589 continues to take on water as he lost 470 points today on top of the 440 points lost yesterday. Gorzo was another Gladiator suffering heavy losses. Gorzo lost 460 points today. All 4 of these Gladiators are in deep trouble of not making it to the 2nd Round.

The Gladiators taking advantage of the carnage is led by WBellhaven who suddenly has come back from the abyss. WBellhaven has gained 590 points in 3 days after winning 6 in a row. We warned you about WBellhaven a few days ago that he was due to get hot. He's a Closer and he's closing fast.

All the action right now seems to be in the lower levels where it's getting real bloody. As some Gladiators start to falter, other Gladiators are catching their 2nd wind and we're in store for a wild stretch run in this already wild 1st Round. Which Gladiators will make the cut and who is going to bow out early. It's still wide open but the clock is starting to tick. Now is the time to get hot.

    DAY 13 RECAP

    PHILLYFAN TAKES CONTROL!

Phillyfan is ending it like he started....red hot. Phillyfan  went 6-1 and has gained 880 points the last 2 days. Meanwhile TeeLocke who was Queen for a day seemed content to hold steady with a firm hand on the 2nd spot so she was idle for the day.

But the action once again is at the bottom of the bracket. A full blown war has taken place among veteran Gladiators. Smoothd appears to be one of the casualties as he has lost 1700 points in 2 days. Smoothd has been given last rites and will be cremated today Gladiator style.

The war below goes on though and we still have 8 Gladiators fighting for 4 spots. My esteemed colleague Atlanta has rightfully pointed out the bottom of the Bracket is where the veterans are, including 2 Ex-Champs Atlanta and Upset City. Currently Hashbrowns and Atlanta are tied for the last spot. It may take the tiebreaker to decide this thing. SBL, Grambus and Gorzo are 270, 320 and 360 points respectively out of that last spot.

So now the stage is set for the last day of Round 1 which has been the wild bloodbath we expected. What's going to happen today is anybody's guess. The only thing that's guaranteed is that some Gladiator legends will be joining Smoothd in Gladiator heaven.

The Final Battles loom now. Upset City has gone 2-0 to most certainly secure his spot in the 2nd Round. But the war rages on with 4 Gladiators withing 30 points of each other and SBLCapitol and Grambus charging over the hill. WBellhaven, Unstoppable, Hashbrowns and Atlanta are locked in a Death Match for the last spot. Somebody isn't going to make it. We haven't seen this type of mayhem since Battle Forum III when Degosfinest, Unstoppable Force and WBellhaven went down to the wire. WBellhaven was the odd man out in that battle. Will history repeat itself or WBellhaven exit this round victorious? We will know the answers to this question and more in a few short hours.

    DAY 14 RECAP

    WHAT A FINISH!

If you followed the Battle Forum today you know it was a Roller Coaster ride right down to the finish. The last few hours was like the Stock Market. Grambus went berserk and started kicking everybody's butt when he gained an incredible 640 points to secure the 14th spot. But the high drama provided by the quartet of Gladiators left was something special. WBellhaven, Hashbrowns, Unstoppable Force and Atlanta waged a torched Earth battle against each other.

Atlanta and Hashbrowns had the final 2 spots leading into the last game. That left Unstoppable Force and WBellhaven on the outside looking in. But Atlanta and Hashbrowns were about to make the fatal mistakes that cost both of them those spots to advance. While Unstoppable Force and WBellhaven chose to remain idle for the last game, both Atlanta and Hashbrowns decided to play it out. Bad move. Atlanta chose to go with Ft. Wayne -5. Hashbrowns went a step further taking Ft. Wayne and the Over. Both Gladiators lost in a clean sweep of disappointment. Those losses sent Atlanta and Hashbrowns to Gladiator Heaven while Unstoppable and WBellhaven survived a sure death to fight another day. It was the wildest 1st Round finish in Battle Forum history. What a day and what a Tournament. We still have 3 more rounds to go as we now start the Head to Head battles.

    2nd Round Preview

    Masterone vs Unstoppable Force

The Champs vacation is over and he's faced with a serious 1st Round matchup with the always tough Unstoppable Force. If anybody can end the Champs reign it will be Unstoppable. I can tell you this the Champs conservative approach will not work with Unstoppable Force. He will need to be War Ready when the bell rings.

    PhillyFan vs WBellhaven

This is another great 2nd Round matchup. PhillyFan had a great 1st Round but WBellhaven is battle tested and has gone up against very tough competition in previous Battle Forums. Can PhillyFan keep the hot streak going against WBellhaven? We will see but this is one going to be a great battle.

    TeeLocke vs Grambus

TeeLocke has made history by being the 1st Female Gladiator and she had a great 1st Round. Now for the bad news. This matchup against an angry Grambus who now has a 2nd life after almost being eliminated in the 1st Round doesn't bode well for TeeLocke. On the other hand Teelocke finished the 1st Round with the highest win pct at an incredible 76.1%. She was very conservative and Grambus has seen this movie before with Masterone in the Championship in Battle Forum IV. TeeLocke better be prepared for an intense battle if she wants to advance to the Quarter Finals. Grambus is on a mission and he is most likely one of the most dangerous Gladiators in the Tournament.

    Ds0589 vs Upset City

It's another great matchup with some history. These 2 Powerhouse Gladiators met back in Battle Forum III and Ds0589 Defeated Upset City badly. Upset City is now looking for some payback. Ds0589 or the Vampire as we call him has the reputation of being hard to eliminate and just when you think he's dead he's not. He has comeback so many times in the Battle Forum that's how he has earned the nickname the "Vampire". Upset City is an Ex-Champ so he knows what it takes to win these battles. You don't become the Battle Forum Champ without being tested and getting tested is what will happen in this battle. Both Gladiators are veterans of big battles and this is just another great battle to log in their history.

    24Secv vs Thedeakon

The newcomer 24Secv will now get baptized in Head to Head combat Gladiator style. Thedeakon is another Gladiator that has been through the wars. Thedeakon has been denied twice after reaching the Quarterfinals. He's determined to go all the way now and it's unfortunate that 24Secv has to face Thedeakon at this time. 24Secv did have a 60% win pct in the 1st Round and he will need to bring that into this battle.

    SixBanks vs Mondo

This is another battle where a newcomer will be facing a Powerhouse. SixBanks made a name for himself in the 1st Round and his reward will be facing an Ex-Champ in Mondo. Mondo was our first Champ so he goes down in Battle Forum lore based on that special place. He's vicious and can literally wipe out Gladiators after a few days of blistering attacks. SixBanks did well in the 1st Round hitting at a 63.1 % clip. But he was very conservative and as history has shown us being conservative doesn't win you many battles when we go to Head to Head. But we can't forget that Masterone did use the conservative approach in Battle Forum IV to win the Championship. Mondo doesn't do the conservative thing. He likes to get a big lead and then pummel his opponent. This is going to be an interesting clash of styles.

    Manny vs Taylorsallstars

Manny had a great 1st Round and has seemed to learn his lesson from his 1st appearance in Battle Forum IV. Now Manny will take on another newcomer in Taylorallstars. Taylorsallstars was solid early on before stumbling a bit down the stretch. Whoever wins this battle will be in rarefied air when they go to the Quarterfinals that's for sure.

    Degosfinest vs Crushalot

Degosfinest has been to the Semifinals twice in the last 3 Battle Forums and he is arguably the most dangerous Gladiator in the field. But if Degosfinest wants to get back to the Semis again he will have to earn it against Crush. Crush is the Gladiators Gladiator. He's always willing to get down and dirty and will not back away from any Gladiator. It's been awhile since Crush has made it to this level so he wants to make it worth his while. This is going to be one of the toughest battles we will see no doubt and whoever comes out of this victorious will be a force to be reckoned with.

    Great strategy from Seafood_Pasta

"When there is a new #1 leader at the top of the leaderboard, follow them for their next pick. Only the next pick after they have become the new #1 leader. If they win, do not follow again. Wait until they lose and follow the next #1 contestant."

Thanks Seafood for the good insight.

I have been on quite a string lately I play every day. the last 15 games I have gone 7 wins in a row and then lost 2 and now I have won my past 6. 13-2. If I can keep it going it would be awesome. Today was scary I had Michigan vs Minnesota. A lot of my games haven't been close lately today it was.

    (1) MASTERONE VS (15) WBELLHAVEN

Hide the women and children Masterone and WBellhaven are going to throw down in a collision of the Titans. WBellhaven returns to the Quarterfinals once again and he will be facing the current Champ once again. In Battle Forum IV WBellhaven fought the then Champ Atlanta in a Classic Battle that is recognized as the greatest battle in Battle Forum history. It was a see-saw affair that WBellhaven lost literally on the game of the last day. But now WBellhaven returns for the glory he lost on that fateful day. Despite numerous attempts WBellhaven just can't get into the Semis. Will this be his time to shine? We will see.

Masterone is the Champ and he's not going down easy. He's perfected his own style of being the Counterpuncher. Can his style work with a tough plodder like WBellhaven? We will see but I guarantee you that WBellhaven will not be tucking his tail and running away. WBellhaven will challenge the Champ in every facet. Will the Champ change his philosophy. Can WBellhaven take advantage of the situation and get out to a big lead forcing the Champ to open up. He better or he will get a full taste of Masterone dancing around the ring while his fans serenade him. It's going to be a clash of styles and philosophies as these 2 Powerhouse Gladiators prepare for this epic battle.

             QUARTERFINALS

         (4) DS0589 VS (14) GRAMBUS

What a treat we have in store as 2 legendary Gladiators clash in this Quarterfinal Showdown. The Vampire will take on Grambus in a Battle Forum Classic. Ds0589 AKA The Vampire is simply the hardest Gladiator to eliminate. Whether he's behind by 100 points or a 1000 you simply can never count Ds0589 out. The only time it's over is when it's over. Ds0589 hopes to keep the good vibes going against Grambus.

Grambus was rolling in Battle Forum IV until he met Masterone in the Championship. Grambus was destroyed in that Championship and has vowed to return to stake his claim to Immortality. But Grambus will have to go through Ds0589 to get there. One thing about the Battle Forum is that when you the Quarterfinals, there are no easy matchups. This is the elite Gladiators here now and Grambus will have to bring a sack lunch and a sleeping bag because it will be an all night job getting rid of Ds0589,

       QUARTERFINALS

    (9) CRUSH VS (12) THEDEAKON

It's just another great battle here in the Battle Forum. Crush will take on Thedeakon in a intense battle between 2 proven Gladiators. This is Thedeakon's 3rd straight Quarterfinals appearance. That alone is reason for accolades but Thedeakon isn't looking for accolades he's looking for Immortality and what a Battle Forum Championship will bring to him. In Battle Forum IV Thedeakon ran up against Degosfinest and was handed a bitter defeat. Same thing happened in Battle Forum III when he ran into Mondo. Thedeakon is back now and determined to get to the next level. But it wont be easy as Crush is on a rampage right now.

Crush just completed another amazing comeback, this time against Degosfinest himself. Crush was down by 1100 points when he came back to stun Degosfinest. Crush can't afford to get behind Thedeakon by that many points because Thedeakon isn't a follower of the counterpuncher theory. No Thedeakon is blood thirsty and will take you out. Crush is a Warrior and he will be up to the task. This will be arguably one of the more competitive battles in the Quarters.

         QUARTERFINALS

    (10) TAYLOR VS (11) MONDO

Taylor takes his first step into the spotlight as he takes on Mondo. Taylor had been flying under the radar until he dismantled Manny. Now he will face Mondo and his flying under the radar days are over. Taylor will need to step up his game though because Mondo will definitely be doing that. Taylor is looking to avenge the defeat of his Father SixBankz at the hands of Mondo. So it's going to get personal in the Battle Forum.

Mondo slept walked through his battle with SixBankz but we don't think he will have that luxury this round. Mondo is on a celestial mission dedicating this Battle Forum V Tournament to his fallen friend Irisheyez. So for Mondo who not only is seeking his 2nd Championship, he is also on a higher mission. We know that one thing we can't do is that count Mondo out. He's simply too good for that and Taylor will have his hands full if Mondo is on point which we expect him to be.

    THE CHAMP SURVIVES!

Masterone was tested to the max. WBellhaven gave the Champ all he can handle. But WBellhaven failed miserably when it counted the most and that was today. He went 3-7 losing 470 points. Needless to say Masterone was easily able to overcome that going 4-3 and gaining 70 points to secure the win. The mere fact that Masterone picked 7 times in one day shows that WBellhaven's strategy did indeed work but unfortunately he couldn't put the hammer down on D-Day. Masterone will now advance to the Semifinal Round in Defense of his Championship.

    MONDO SINKS TAYLORS HOPES

It was a great battle and no doubt Mondo knows it was a battle. Taylor took Mondo to the limit down to the last day and the last games. Taylor went out like a Champ gaining 90 points after going 2-1. Unfortunately for Taylor it simply wasn't enough to beat Mondo. Mondo went 3-1 gaining 190 points on Taylor and that was enough to put the Rookie Gladiator away. Mondo is a veteran of the tough Battle Forum battles and he used that experience to gain the victory. Mondo will now advance to the Semifinals where he will continue his quest to be the first Gladiator to win a 2nd Championship.

    THEDEAKON EDGES CRUSH

It wasn't pretty in fact it was downright ugly, you could even call it a race to the bottom but in the end all that matters is that Thedeakon came out victorious.
Thedeakon doesn't even care about the aesthetics of the victory. All he cares about now is that for the 1st time he will be in the Semifinals. Thedeakon is now one step away from bringing the Battle Forum Trophy North of the Border. Crush didn't go down easy. He picked 19 games  going 9-9-1 but unfortunately for Crush he wasn't able to gain any traction and in fact lost 90 points. Thedeakon also split his games going 6-6-1 so both Gladiators were swinging for the fences on this last day of their battle.
