You have given me quite a headache, Booyahz! Lol. I haven't been able to do any baseball stuff for researching Mayan calendars and doomsday theories. LoL. Ah, yes. The correlation question. It is true that the Mayan calendar is different from our modern Gregorian calendar, which is also different from the Julian calendar of Caesar. However, the date of December 21, 2012 is a Gregorian translation of the end of the cycle on the Mayan calendar. Their calendar 13.0.0.0.0 corresponds to ur Gregorian 12-21-2012. Using remarkable ingenuity, the Maya created the "Long Count" calendar, a departure from the shorter calendars. The Long Count is a numerically predictable calendar, not based on archaic measures of time.

Now, purely as a consequence of the Long Count's numerical value, many Mayan scholars agree that the calendar will "run out" after 5,126 years (or, at least, it's first cycle does). Yankees down 7-0....WTF

I like Texas and San Francisco later. The Yankees disaster isn't likely to be over in time to pick them, however, after a 40 minute first inning. I don't know why, but I sort of had a bad feeling about Colon tonight. Maybe it had something to do with him giving up five runs to the Rays in his last outing. I somehow just remembered this. Now that I look back, I can see that Toronto beat him 7-3 back on May 23 and he gave up 6 earned runs in 6 innings on that night. Oh well, you know what they say about hindsight! Hopefully the Bombers can erase what has now climbed to a 9 run deficit to get us the SFTC win. If not, Vegas will be raking. I am sorry to see Booyahz 5 game streak riding on this outcome. Anyway, congrats on the red star!

Looking on the bright side, the leaderboard will collapse if this holds. There is some consolation there. I only wish the top dogs would have bitten on this one. Something tells me that the Cyrus dude will pick Seattle. It's crazy, I know, but I just have a hunch. Yanks are showing signs of life! 3-9 now! C'mon Yanks!

I wish I would have read these posts earlier about my Yankees. I could have stopped you guys. I didn't pick it because I know coming out of a break this would be tough. Toronto hates the Yankees with a passion and somehow they beat us pretty regularly up North. With Colon pitching all signs for me pointed to a Yankee letdown. Did I expect Toronto to torch us for 16 runs-Hell no! But if you look over the years Toronto, Boston and Cleveland have handed the Yankees their most lopsided losses. Of course we have returned the favor but be careful when the Yankees play up North.

Bama- I'm impressed. You are a wealth of information my friend. Thanks for that breakdown of the Mayan calendar. I eat this stuff up. Personally I don't think the world is coming to an end at all. Just like Y2K a its all hype. Now I do think we have some issues with asteroids, meteors and UFO's but we have to see how all that plays itself out. In the meantime we have streaks to run.

I'm wondering and tell me if anybody else is thinking this way. If the NL West theory keeps hitting if Covers will take it off. We saw what happen when Hockey started being a little too consistent. On the other hand if they do we still have the sportsbooks to light up. I'm gonna roll with this theory and see what happens.
