It wasn't even a real safety, the safety call was an attempt to help the home team cover or win the spread, funny how yall got it twisted.

IRRESPECTIVE OF THE SPREAD, I THINK HARBAUGH MADE A MISTAKE NO TAKING THE SAFETY, THOSE 2 POINTS COULD BE THE DIFFERENCE FOR TIE BREAKERS ETC.

wow.. interesting end to the game to say the least.. had SF -8, so i was pretty stoked when they called a safety, only to have SF decline it..

the reason SF declined it was if they did accept it, SF would have to kickoff, defend a possible return, recover an onside kick, etc.. granted the chances of SF losing when up by 9 w/ less then a minute are very slim, there is still a chance. SF declining it and getting the ball back results in a ZERO chance of Seattle scoring, as they could just run the clock out..

cost me 1100 bucks, but hey, it happens..

    Congrats Seattle and under backers!!

Refusing the safety eliminates the possibility of an injury to their special teams. Those are higher risk plays healthwise. Ihad Seattle so I aint bitching I would probably being talking serious shit if I had SF.

Some good points are made why Harbaugh made the decision.  But one thing that was undeniably suspect was the look on his face when the safety was called.  You think he would be happy. . .

It's coaching against all possibilities -- seachickens could onside kick, score a td or field goal , onside kick, and score again to tie or win.  By refusing the safety, it eliminated that 0001% chance.

Nice observation, I didnt see  his face. So do you think he is just shaving or is he sending in fucked up plays to lose games outright and get that moneyline money? Like that  NY game would have payed over 2 to one.  something to consider. I am going to watch the game again and look at his face unless they edited it out by now.

Leading up to kickoff, I was watching this point spread for the final 2 hours bounce between 8' and 7'.  As soon as it got to 8' and dropped and vice-a-versa.  I said to myself that the sharps are trying to play the middle here.  Didn't work out but close.

So now JH from SF is on my watch list for suspect coaches.  He's now on a very exclusive yet prominent list of mine who I feel shave games.  Take the safety, go up 2 scores with 46 seconds left, receive the kick as there is no onside kick after a safety, kneel and go home - you horses ass!

Let's just move on, there are plenty of really good games on Saturday and Sunday.

Had he of looked fired up like he just won the game, which is the usual with H I would lean toward his logic.  But considering his body language and the score at the time, aot of money changed hands on that call, over 70 percent the last I checked.  Never thought I'd see it with this team.  Take a look at the Smith interception on the previous drive/  No receiver even close, right to the defender for the pick.  And the thrid down Smith run.  It appeared they were tryting not to score a TD and settle for the FG.  All of which kept them from covering.

the reason SF declined it was if they did accept it, SF would have to kickoff, defend a possible return, recover an onside kick, etc.. granted the chances of SF losing when up by 9 w/ less then a minute are very slim, there is still a chance. SF declining it and getting the ball back results in a ZERO chance of Seattle scoring, as they could just run the clock out..

cost me 1100 bucks, but hey, it happens..

    Congrats Seattle and under backers!!

Not to call you out...but this post is wrong in so many ways.

    A)  SF wouldn't kick off to Seattle.  It would be a safety...which means that SEATTLE would PUNT off to SF

    B) You can't onside kick a punt...

This call wouldn't have made a difference is Seattle didn't have 5 perfectly thrown passes dropped, two of which were going for TD's.

I think they know all of the angles to fix a game, because they do have a point that taking a knee is safer to players than have a free kick and maybe Seattle tries some kind of onside free kick? Although I was on Seattle and understand Harbaughs thinking, I still think it's pretty stinky

    Guys,
I'm from the bay and has been on Niners since Harbaugh started coaching and I'm telling you this...
Harbaugh made that call was strictly textbook!!!  Local radios keep saying he's strict on making the right call.  Why continue the game with 2 more points when you can end it with a W!  His call has no affect on my bet since I had Niners ML and -1/5 in many bets.  Also.. rewind all your tapes our youtube Harbaugh's face when a good play is made by Niners... YOU WILL ALWAY SEE HIS GRINNING FACE.    I've seen it many times.. his team were up 37-0 and his freaking face was grinning like they were losing!
