Miami at Carolina (11/19/2009)

Miami will not miss Ronnie Brown in this game as much as Carolina will miss starting Tackle Jordan Gross who is out of the season after an injury last week.  They will have to jumble their offensive line up to make up for this loss.  Ricky Williams will fill in just fine here this evening and will probably be able to run wild against the leagues 25th ranked defense. 

Gross was a huge part of what Carolina likes to do in the running and passing game and will be sorely missed.  Delhomme is already a skiddish QB and now his main man for protecting his blindside is gone. 

Miami should be able to hold their own on defense because Carolina likes to do what?  Run run run......Miami has the leagues 7th best defense against the run.  Force Jake to throw the ball and he WILL turn it over.

Give me Miami +3 here all day

Is Stewart and Williams both hurt?

Looking at recent past performances...

Going with the mia dol+3 Ronnie brown was only  part of their offense which  IMO Ricky will pick up   he knows  everyone in the nation will have their eyes on him to see if  he can show up when a team member goes down, as in this case.

 

 

I'm backing the Panthers here and easypics already mentioned the directions both teams are headed, but for me, it mostly comes down to being completely unimpressed with a Dolphins offense which does not have an identity right now.

The most dangerous component going for them last weekend was Ronnie Brown in the wildcat, which, for some perplexing reason they almost completely went away from after their first drive.  And now, it's all Ricky.  Hey, Ricky's a nice back and a young 32 and we all know he can make some plays but he certainly can't carry them.

They should have been able to run all over Tampa Bay (30 v. the run?) even after Ronnie Brown went down, and they didn't.  Which is why I don't expect them to be able to run all over Carolina.

To me, they liked like a team struggling to find other ways to move the ball on offense and I'm sorry, but it ain't gonna' happen through the air.  Penne's a nice quarterback but their most dangerous big strike receiver can't catch the football.

Devone Bass is an excellent route runner but overall, the weapons just aren't there for them.  So if the Panthers run that no-huddle again, get it going and get a lead, how do they come back?

Also, the Pat White experiement is almost exactly like the Micheal Vick experiment right now.  It usually doesn't work and takes opportunities away from the other guys.

And if that team as a whole, comes into this game with the same lackluster attitude they had against the Bucs, they're gonna' get blown out.  They let the Bucs hang around, got very little pressure on the rookie qb as the game worn on and low and behold, they got behind and were very fortunate to get that win.

It sounds to me as though the Panthers can manage pass protection despite the key loss on the O-Line.  And now we're hearing that both Stewart and DeAngelo are playing.

I just think Carolina is playing better football right now and believes, after nearly beating New Orleans and taking down Atlanta in their division that they still have a shot at the playoffs.

To me, given all the circumstances (and as anemic as that Dolphin offense is right now), the Panthers by 4 is not a stretch here.

Mimai has had five home games: five overs.  They have had four road games: three unders (and the only over, Jets was 3-3 at halftime).  I'm sensing a trend.

Carlina has had NO games without a least one half under.

Like Miami 1st half. Thinking it will take Carolina a full half to make adjustments to handle the Wildcat. Plus my book has Miami+3 at the half which is the same as the game. GLTA

No ronnie brown is bad news for the phins, and Carolina is on the upward trend. Normally this would be a six point advantage for the home team so, take them at a discount and win!

1.) If Ronnie Brown were healthy Carolina would only be favored by 51 percent, but without Brown the Panthers are a more solid 57 percent favorite.

2.) Ricky Williams should have a big game with a 40 percent chance of rushing for 75+ yards and 1+ TDs. If Williams can do this the Dolphins are actually 60 percent favorites. However, if Williams is held under 75 yards the Dolphins only have a 20 percent chance.

3.) Jake Delhomme has not thrown an INT in 3 games. He has a 37 percent chance of throwing 0 INTs this week and if he does the Panthers are 73 percent favorites. If Delhomme throws 2 or more INTs the Panthers are winning just 33 percent.

 Don't get overwhelmed on the road: Thursday night games are very difficult on players' bodies, and this would tend to favor the home team. Compounding matters, the Dolphins have won only one game on the road this year. They also are not well-equipped to play from behind, so starting fast is important on this national stage.

The ‘over’ is 6-3 overall for the ‘Fins, but they have seen the ‘under’ cash at a 3-1 clip in their road assignments. With that said, the ‘over’ is 5-1 in Miami’s last six games (regardless of venue). Meanwhile, Carolina has watched the ‘over’ go 5-4 overall, 2-2 in its home games

Do you know why he is not listed on the injury report???  I hate when they do this, obviously he is very crucial to Car's Offense.
