Prior to the Giants playing the 49ers last week, I seem to remember everyone talking about the "revenge factor" for the 49ers getting knocked out of the playoffs last year by the Gmen. Well, I don't seem to hear anyone talking about the revenge factor for this game. With TJ Yates at quarterback, the Texans lost a very close playoff game last year at Baltimore. I personally think revenge is an overrated attribute when trying to predict the results of a game. But I would like to talk about the last time these teams played in that playoff match.
In that game, Ladarious Webb had a monster game, coming up with 2 key interceptions. Ed Reed also had a pick to make it a total of 3 interceptions thrown by Yates. The Texans still only lost that game by a touchdown, and I would like to explain why.
Arian Foster had a field day on this defense (27 carries and 132 yards) . Andre Johnson also had a great day coming up with 111 yards on 8 catches. The Texans did this at Baltimore with a healthy Ravens defense in a playoff scenario. Joe Flacco and Ray Rice on the other hand were for the most part shut down. Flacco went 14/27 and threw for a 176 yards. Rice was kept to 60 yards rushing on 21 carries.
The Ravens won that game because they were at full strength and were able to confuse a young and inexperienced backup quarterback. The shoe will be on the other foot this time around, and the Ravens will get bullied on Sunday. Deep down the Ravens are wishing their bye was this week and not next week. They could definitely use the extra week to prepare their new starting Mike (they will have to go with one of their former undrafted rookie free agents: Ellerby, McClaine, or McClellan). We all know Webb is out as well, who is obviously one of the elite corners in the NFL.
And for those of you who don't know, Ed Reed announced on a Baltimore radio show this Wednesday that he is playing with a torn labrum. This sounds like a team that can't wait to get into the bye week, and should probably consider themselves lucky they are 5-1. They have had some really close calls against the Browns (23-16), Chiefs (9-6), and most recently Dallas (31-29). They will not have such luck on the road against a Texans team that would like to avenge their playoff loss last year, and make up for their weak effort against Green Bay last week. Not to mention, the Texans will also be heading into their bye, and they will not want to lose two consecutive games at home.
All the angles are pointing towards a comfortable win by the Texans. I have heard rumors that Terrell Suggs might play, and while that might boost morale, it wont be enough to make a difference. He played in that playoff game last year and Arian Foster still shredded them.
I imagine the books will see equal action on both sides so I wouldn't worry about the line movement.
The Texans will get their first franchise win against Baltimore on Sunday, and they will do it in style.
34-17 is my final.
good luck
Great analysis, inspired me to double down on this game.

Was that "BUM" Phillips on the Houston sidelines against the Packers, his defense sure played like BUMs. His DB's forgot to BUMp, and instead , just ran with the Packer receivers, letting them and Rodgers play pitch-and-catch, just as if they were practicing on the Nitschke Field(named after old #66)...that defense won't do much better against the Ravens so take the points and the over in this game that will expose the team that has played a very week first part schedule!!!

This is a revenge game for the texans. This is also a battle of the backs. Foster vs Rice, and I think Foster gonna run a hole through this mediocre Ravens defense that lost two of its best players for the season. All in on Texans +7 in Vegas.

Keep in mind, the Texans have never beaten the Ravens in 6 meetings. Last time in Houston, lost in OT. Over seems like the best play here as the ravens D is hurting but their O can put up the points.

Once again, football is played on a week to week basis! No team will ever play the same like they did the week before! Plus your last years stats don't count towards this upcoming game! So all that talk about what happened last year is totally irrelevant to what's happening this Sunday! We all know the bottom line is a win is a win and a loss is a loss regardless who plays or what happened! Nevertheless, I do agree that maybe certain angles do point towards the Texans winning the game and I won't deny that. However, the Texans covering this week I disagree for the Ravens do show up to big games such as this one to be atop the AFC!!!

I'll take the ravens since the Texans are on a spiral downfall and cannot cover! Can't see them getting out of that covering slump at home. Maybe, on the road they'll finally show up in there next game since they'll be questionable for not covering against the Jets, Packers, and now Ravens!
And for those of you who like facts here you go!
FACT: Just last week people posted all kinds of loads of crap about G. Bay don't have this and haven't done $#!T yada yada. But yet the Texans are the best team in the NFL and they run and do this and do that yada yada yada!!! All I saw was the Texans get dominated and lit up for a career high 6 TD passes by A. Rod! What's even worst is that 3 of those TD's was to the same WR! Texans best team in the NFL what a joke.
FACT: During MNF against the Jets. I read the same load of crap again, how the jets don't have there 2 stars that are key players with D. Revis and S. Holmes and that the Texans was going to kill the Jets. Okay, Well if the Texans was that dominant why couldn't they cover a line that rises to -10 right before the game?
FACT: Texans the last 2 weeks can't cover! Why not again and continue the streak!
RAVENS for the cover!
Let me just say a couple of things about your "facts" that clearly show the Texans to be headed in a "spiral downfall and can't cover."
Your first two Facts are all that supposed bettors for the Texans in the last two weeks talked all kinds of crap about how they were the best team in football. I agree that many people had lots of opinions that favored the Texans - but these are opinions not facts. As well, most every "power ranking" had Houston as the #1 team in the NFL so many of these opinions were just reiterating what the "experts" said.
Yes the Texans failed to cover against a desperate Jets team in front of a national audience after the media had painted them into a corner and Sexy Rex threw every type of tricky play he could at them. I believe that it is fairly common for the home team to do well on MNF. The Texans failed to cover by 3.5 pts - but they won and controlled the ball until the last 4 secs. As for the Green Bay game - the Texans were due for an upset, there was too much hype, they had injury problems on defense and they were facing another desperate team that is truly an elite team when healthy. Aaron Rogers played an incredible game and the Texans were caught off guard.
Now on to your third fact - Yes the Texans failed to cover for 2 weeks in a row - FACT! But the Ravens have failed to cover 4 WEEKS in a row FACT!!! So if the Texans are on a downward spiral and can't cover then Baltimore is in a full on covering melt down, and they only beat a crappy Cowgirls team because D. Bailey misses a field goal that would win the game. They still didn't cover.
So by the facts the Ravens are on an 0-4 ATS trend - which means bet the trend CHIEF!!

Now let me tell you something about your facts!
Of course they're opinions we all should understand that! That's why I don't follow them for a fact! Furthermore, for you to bring up power rankings and experts about what's so called was the #1 team in the NFL just tells me for a fact that you as well as these opinionated people don't have the common sense to come up with your own decisions and you all solely base them off of someone else's insight who you call an expert! Gee, now wouldn't that be a huge fact with all the bandwagons who's been putting money on them and losing the last couple of weeks!!!!
Now onto your next fact! You sound just like everyone else who loss money on the last couple of games playing the Texans! Making up all kinds of excuses that this is what happened and what was due! Seriously, like I said before in another post that also is another fact and I quote "a wins a win and a loss is a loss" no matter what happened or who didn't play!!!
And for the last fact of the day! I agree both teams have sucked at covering! However, you do know that this game decides which one of these teams stays atop the AFC! And for a fact the Ravens will show up and cover the spread! So Chief if you were as smart as you sound, for a fact bet the underdog cause I don't follow trends that are on favors that can't cover!!!!!
