"Arizona has stayed afloat despite losing quarterback Carson Palmer for the season, but the Cardinals will need Drew Stanton to be more consistent. Stanton didn't throw an interception last week but was 15-of-30, while practice squad call-up Kerwynn Williams was impressive in his first action carrying the ball - racking up 100 yards on 19 carries. Arizona's secondary could be depleted, as safety Tyrann Mathieu (thumb) is out and cornerback Antonio Cromartie (ankle) is day-to-day. 

A renewed pass rush has played a huge rule in St. Louis' defensive revival, as the Rams have recorded 13 sacks over the past two games and 34 over the past eight. Quarterback Shaun Hill's play the past two weeks has been overshadowed by the defense, but the veteran has compiled a 124.8 rating with four TDs and no interceptions in the back-to-back victories. The Rams have found consistency in the running game in the form of Tre Mason, who leads NFC rookies with 628 rushing yards and has two 100-yard games in the past four contests."

spread is now -6? don't know what to do... i like rams but i believe odds maker are trying to win both ways from the betting public shifting the number... any thoughts now?

A line shift from -2.5 to -6 means nothing but sharp money all over the rams. bookies trying to catch some public money on the dog with that line and maybe some sharp rebuy.

I think this is a total trap game. I am going with the under. The rams have scored 20+ a few times lately, and the cards can score late in games. The cards also have to much on the line and it is a short week, and on TNF the over happens much more. Drew stanton played against the rams last time, and showed he can play against this defense. Going with the cards.

ST. LOUIS (-4.5) 24 Arizona 14

The Rams are hitting on all cylinders right now having shut out their last two opponents (52-0 at home against the Raiders and 24-0 last week in Washington) driven by a defense that has been among the leagues’ best the past six weeks. As a young defense has learned to play within new coordinator Gregg Williams schemes coupled with a return to health and improved play from key players in the secondary and on the defensive line, the Rams have allowed just 12.5 points per game the last six. I expect that their defense will be fired up to show the nation what they can do in this primetime home Thursday night game against a Cardinals team that will be exposed offensively. This is a big game for the Rams and I suspect they’ll bring their best.

On the other side, the Cardinals are not in a good spot having to travel on a short week after what was a big home win against the Chiefs and facing the Seahawks in a primetime home Sunday night game possibly for the division title next week. They are also banged up along the offensive line and have a quarterback in Drew Stanton that has not played well away from home this season (52.5% completion rate with 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions and a 63.5 quarterback rating). With the combination of an excellent Rams defensive line and the noise in a loud Edward Jones Dome, I don’t see much success for the Cardinals offense. Especially considering the fact that the Rams have allowed an average of just 59 rushing yards at 3.5 ypr the past six while the Cardinals are averaging 81 rushing yards at 3.4 ypr on the season. Arizona is going to struggle in the run game and when that happens a Rams pass rush that has been excellent (averaging nearly five sacks per game the past six games) is going to make life difficult for Drew Stanton. Offensively, the Rams have been much better with Shaun Hill at quarterback, especially at home (3 touchdowns and 1 interception and a 96.1 quarterback rating) and their ground attack has really picked it up (averaging 118 yards rushing at 4.5 ypr the past six games). 

I  lean  Rams minus the 5 points & under 40.5.

Tempting to take the Cards and all those points. But the Rams playing at home with revenge. Rams are hot and have some real quality wins. This will be a close to the vest good ole fashioned divisional slug fest. The Rams offense will come back to earth this week against a good Arizona defense. Arizona to play conservative unless they fall behind and avoid the pass rush of the Rams. Both teams to rely on the run and play not to lose in the first half. As one poster remarked with defenses this good you can always have defensive scores or turnovers that set up the offense, and with a total this low that is a concern. That's part of playing a total whether you want those non offensive sores or not. Two good defenses versus offenses with back up QB's and key injuries. I believe you may be able to absorb a non offensive score or two on this one and stay under the total. Under 40.5 GLTA!

The Cardinals come into this game with the ability to make a huge statement. They can grab the best record in the NFL and clinch a playoff spot with a win. Some people have doubts about Arizona after losing two staright. One of those was AT Seattle and the other AT a Falcons team who plays well at home and is capable of putting up points. 

I know history can mean little when it comes to the NFL, but I like AZ here. 

Since 1992 the Rams as a Home Favorite of 6.5 or less are 1-4 s/u and 0-5 ATS vs Arizona. 

Overall at as a Home Fav since 1992 the Rams are 5-6 s/u and 2-9 ATS vs Arizona. 

With something to play for give me Zona +4.5!
