I won't deny this Matt, but the overdose of movies, video games, television, and internet sources which ingrain gun violence into the minds of the users as the plausible solution for rectifying all their embedded problems is at the heart of this.

There have been mentally un-hinged individuals roaming the planet since the dawn of humanity, and these folks will continue to be a part of every population till Man's time on Earth is over. As said in this thread, it is only a matter of time till another such massacre is repeated.

Having said that, the only thing 'despicable' are those cowards who continue to hide behind and invoke the 2nd Amendment as some sort of god-given edict that we should all have unlimited and unfettered access to the kinds of firearms that can kill dozens of innocent people in the time it took me to write these words.

The question then becomes the balancing act between the rights of law abiding, responsible citizens and gun owners to own firearms of their choice versus the potential that those firearms can be used for wrongdoing.

If you ban assault weapons, this tragedy still happens.  the gunman used multiple handguns.  We live in a country the size of Europe and we each have similar tragedies that occur with the same frequency, it just isn't reported as widely in the United States.  Crazy people will do crazy things.  A man stabbed 20 children in China the other day at a school...he found a way.  This kid was nuts and as it turns out had multiple mental health issues.  I'm for stricter gun laws but not banning guns.  People with diagnosed mental health problems shouldn't be allowed to own guns.  You should never ever adopt far reaching intrusive legislation as a result of an isolated horrendous incident.  You have to see the bigger picture.

I love how these types of tragedies always draw political outrage....

    It's a friggin disgrace..

These events cannot be prevented for the most part.

The events that CAN be prevented are the day-to-day tragedies in which people go to the ER for gun violence

CBS is reporting that the suspect Adam Lanza's mother was a teacher at the elementary school where the shootings occured...

A enforcement official says the boy's mother, Nancy Lanza, is presumed dead.........

Three guns were found—a Glock 9MM handgun and a Sig Sauer handgun, both pistols, inside the school, and a .223-caliber semi-automatic rifle was recovered in the back of a car.

I believe in 2nd Amendment, but seriously, is there a reason not to ban assault weapons?  I don't have a problem with home/personal protection but do anyone actually carry those out even in the States that allow concealed weapon?

No. I don't believe there was government involvement here or on 9/11, but if you don't see the relevance of the F&F comment or worse yet are only marginally aware of what it is, then you aren't bright enough to make a meaningful comment in this thread.

Unlike you, I am not familiar with every issue and I am not going to lie about it. I don't believe neither scenerios and if you don't see the point I am trying to make, then you have no business to judge anyone's brightness. A person like you want to talk about meaningful comment?

i know you rightwingers like to ignore this because you're not real big fans of women, in all the ways you can interpret that, but the abortion issue involves a little matter of intruding into a women's body that does not exist with the assault rifel ban issue.

there are  alot of bad poijts made regarding the gun control issue.  but one good one was that guns have obviously been around for a long time but the crazy garbage that happened today seems to be more of a recent phenomenon.  it's clearly not just a gun issue, although it is a gun issue too.  you have to wonder what effect there is with combining shitty parents with mental problems that go untreated with all the gun exposure on tv and in video games.

The guns used by Adam Lanza were bought legally and registered to his mother (who was shoot in the face)  the legal age to own any kind of firearm in the state of Connecticut is 21 years of age.... Adam Lanza was 20.

Now ABC reports that Adam Lanza had Asperger Syndrome and another personally disorder..sounds like he has been diagnosed by professionals ..
