His job was to go to colleges, high schools and general events set up to generate signing on for the military. His view was that the requirements for the military are higher than many meet and the recruiting goals are very difficult to meet. Finding people who are both interested and able to be accepted has been increasingly difficult and I am sure now it is even much worse. Woke is a silly term in this case since the issues have less to do with partisan positioning and more to do with the lack of interest and capability of citizens to serve in the military.

Unless a WWII or 9/11 causes a jump it will be hard for a young guy to realize that they are getting a good jump in life with the things they will learn and see. It has to be convincing enough to offset the dangers and lack of money and lack of freedom their buddies back home have. But for some it is absolutely the correct choice.
