First of all what you were talking about is not the “freedom to roam” - it is like saying a country has freedom of speech because they can speak second yeah we pay high taxes - but we basically don’t pay anything else - for instance our insurance for EVERYTHING is 100-200 USD pr YEAR - how much have you paid ? our schools are free our hospitals are free if you lose your job you get paid 2000 usd pr month by the State- how much do you get ? if you get a kid you get 52 weeks of paid maternity leave - how much do you get ? when we are hired - in the worst job situation you get 8 weeks paid holiday pr year (and that is the least we can get - and you by law have to take that - like the company will get in trouble if they don’t allow you to leave) how does it work over there ? and litterally I could go on for years - because we litterally are better than you in every single metric
Socialism...........no thank you...

It is pretty hard moving to Denmark as foreign person if you don’t have work permission here :( but your quality of life in most aspects would spike out of control no matter what European country you chose if you deduct UK, France, Germany and Sweden - we have close to no gun violence at all over here - to put things into perspective - Denmark has never had a school shooting - not just this year - but EVER (and shootings in general happen so little - if you deduct gangs shooting on each other - I can pinpoint the last shooting of citizens we had exactly - it was almost 5 years ago when I guy shot some people in a shopping mall) and to be honest we almost have no crimes at all compared - it helps a lot when your government helps it citizens that has a rough time - who would have known
Really sounds like a great place to live Calde13. You wanna adopt a 62 year old and my wife lolllll
Our school shootings most dont even react anymore, they know just consider it a normal risk for kids going to school. nAm a gun owner myself, but i dont need to own a friggin bazooka to hunt and for protection.

Hehe you actually come across as one of the more well taught and behaved Americans - so if I was in charge we could easy fit you in :) - and yeah you can also own guns over here - it is just regulated - and you can’t buy them over the counter like you can over there - but I know plenty of people over here with guns - they just use them for hunting animals and not humans

"but i dont need to own a friggin bazooka to hunt and for protection." Interesting. I believe most Americans don't need 1200-1500 calories in one sitting. But, while not a right, I don't see bans in that regard. Gun Death's 2024 - 30,000 Heart Disease Deaths (2022) - 702,000
It is true you guys eat way too much - but we don't have any bans or restriction etc. on that here, so it must be due to something else - when I have seen movies or tv-shows etc depicturing US - it seems like you guys are always on the run and everything has to be fast, fast, fast - like for real sometimes my brain hurts just being exposed to it through medias like 30 mins a day - I can't understand how any of you live in it - like for real and the constant discussion of politics and God etc. I would get insane - like not even joking - I don't think I have discussed Danish politics with someone maybe for the past 8-12 years - and I have never used time on God - apart from when I showed up and fell asleep in church in my teens (where I was forced to go)
But ok I would already had gone like "Nope no brainwashing for me" if I went to a school and they forced me to praise the flag - do you know how much of a cult that sounds for people on the outside - like it sounds insane - that you do that ! - My mind exploded the first time I heard that - the only other country ever to do something like that was Nazi Germany btw

But your government is also both intervised to make you sick and get you locked up in prison - since they earn money on both :D So INSANE - it would be the biggest joke - and I would joke about it - if I didn't know you guys are living it :(

Calde13 is right. According to US news, the best countries in quality of life tend to be European. Top ten includes Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Canada, Finland, Germany, Australia, Netherlands and New Zealand. US ranks 22nd.

First of all because it is easier - it is very hard to get into Denmark unless you are here on a work visa or we by any other chance want to have you here - second because the poor and "bad" countries are right underneath you to the south - so of course they see you as the best country on earth because compared to them you are
Most other countries near us (Rest of EU) has almost the same quality of life as we do - and EU has tons of immigration both from Africa and Middle East - and again it isn't like you guys don't have anything going for you - you can become WAY richer in your country than here - here the rich people are almost getting "punished" (so you can say your country is more "the dream" culture - you are the country you go to if you dream of being a great movie star - you are the country you go to if you want to own 16 Yachts and drink champagne everyday - but how many end up living out that dream - not that many I guess) - but overall as society we are all "richer" over here if you took us like a mass - like it is also way harder to be poor here - so it is basically if you want to ride that 1% lottery ticket to get enough money that you can buy 15 rockets and buy your own helicopter - while the rest of the country die of hunger - or you want to live in security that no matter what happens and no matter how unlucky you are - you will survive and you will have a fine life

And most Asian countries are even worse than you guys with work life balance and many other human right things - so the only place basically that owns you in most metrics are Europe - and the immigration you get from here - is exactly those people I described - it is those that dream of making it big - they will travel over to you and most of them (just like most of you guys) will fail accomplishing what they wanted

That's a fairly smug assessment. So you look at the US as simply an "all or nothing" prospect.......nothing in between. I guess you've never lived here. People come here from all over the world for two things......freedom & opportunity. One doesn't need to reach the top 1% to make it here. If you & your European counterparts are perfectly happy with contentment then good on ya. Those that strive for more tend to find their way over here.

No they don't - because you are not the most "free" country - so it would be pretty stupid to come to you for that - you are correct with the opportunity part - but that was also what I was referring to - and the last part you basically just said what I said - If you have a dream of making it like super big you go to you - but over here a WAY larger procentage would have what would be defined as a "good life" -- said in other words - you have a WAY larger procentage of your population living a bad life (our bad life would be your lower middle class)

Unfortunately freedom and opportunity are only for Anglo men, anyone else and especially with Trump in office can forget either opportunity or freedom. We CLAIM those things but its similar to the Trump lies in this thread, claims are for morons and the concept sounds good but why are we kidding ourselves the US is a capitalist white male economy and there are many aspects of socialism that we COULD implement that would help more people but the poor and minorities do not have the power to shift the narrative way from pork filled capitalism to even sniff the catch phrases "freedom and opportunity".
No society has everything that is great and nothing that is lousy but we in the US need to get off our pillars and be honest about how lousy of a job we do to make the country great for everyone not just Christian white men.

That's nonsense & you know it. You're letting your hatred for Trump skew your thinking.

Likewise - I am not saying any of this to try and say we are better than you - I don't have the same fetisch as your country with wanting to be the best - I don't really care - as long as I am happy for my life and how I can use it that is all that matters - and the same of course applies for you - if you guys are happy living in America why do you even care what I mean? (I don't care what you guys mean about Denmark) I am just telling you how it is living here to widen your horizon - since we are exposed so much to how you guys are living (because you are important also to us) my Danish brain just kind of feel sorry for you - but if you guys are happy then everything is good (and every metric used for calculating Quality of Life we are better than US in all of them - so it isn't a pity that comes out of nowhere)

But if I could make US the best place on earth by 10 billion times Denmark (without lowering our quality of life) I would do that any day - this is not a competition - I would want everyone to have the best life (I know it might come across as cheesy to an American - but that is actually how the Danish mindset are in the general public)

You speak in hatred and anger, that is not the way I look at things. I base my opinions on the person and their results nothing else. I think Trump is a zero ego jerk based only on the decisions he makes, the person he is. Did you see the ABC interview with him from a few days ago? The one where he tried to bully the interviewer and spoke to him in such a condescending abusive manner? Is this your chosen leader? Someone who bullies and lies and creates chaos and disrupts as a narrative?
What is funny is Trump is 100% the fool in that interview..the ABC guy kept trying to give Trump an out a way to not look like a stupid classless moron but Trump would have no part of that...the bully thug intimidate qualities are in his personality, he completely lacks the ability to interact with others without being a smug punk.
The most amusing thing about that piece is that Trump was backing a photoshop LIE, it was so obvious that the guy he sent to El Salvador did NOT have a tattoo of that gang on his knuckles, it was a clear and extremely obvious photoshop that it was almost comical. The interviewer tried to be respectful and give him an out but NO, Trump will not back down and take those cues he is fixated on being a bully...and he is wrong. The entire justification for the deportation was based on a total lie that the guy was a member of that gang, it was the only way Trump could deport and he lied, it was total deception and is against the judges orders and the law. The guy did NOT have that gang symbols on his knuckles, Trump is out of control and a very low quality human being...just a waste of the position and a total loser.
