Problem is that US invasion of Greenland could be the end of NATO the most successful defensive alliance maintaining peace in history. Without allies, US national security would be weaker. No need for US takeover because US already has a military base in Greenland and current arrangement allows for upgrades. Also US could simply invest in Greenland and buy rare Earth minerals. Polls show most Americans disapprove of Trump foreign policies in general.
Well NATO have plenty of nukes outside what you have - so if you hypothetically want to know what we can do - we can potentially bomb you into oblivion - but the most likely scenario - we will just stop investing in your military industry or your industry in general - and EU has almost as much money as you do - and we will close all your bases overseas - so you can only easily operate within the Middle East and US territory - and then we will stop giving you intel about different threats that pass our oceans and our airspace
And maybe the most important aspect of this - you can do nothing after taking over it you can’t do now nor have been able to do the last 80 years - but militarily and economically

If this turn out to become a full scale war I would actually question if you would even win - if it was fought in the arctic - your equipment is not made for arctic warfare at all - where Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Canada pretty much exclusively have arctic warfare equipment - Sweden and Finland are military powerhouses
- and how would you even draw up a plan to invade Greenland - 80% or something like that is pure ice and you can’t move around easily as there are snow storms all the time and no logistics like roads etc - you would be a constant moving mark - anyone could just randomly bomb if they felt like it - and you couldn’t move necessities like food etc. reliable in to your troops - if you do go in - I hope polymarket will make it possible to bet how many of you will die to some of the extreme nature conditions within the first year - because I would bet on 85%+

Reps for Denmark and Greenland are in DC as we speak. Why all the talk about "invasion" of Greenland? Why? Well because "Trump said so". You guys all know he is full of shit so why take anything that comes out of his mouth at face value??
The more likely scenario is a purchase / buyout agreement for some form of rights. Not necessarily a full territory take over.
Coincidentally, the last major land deal for the US was a deal with Denmark, $25mm in 1917 for what is now the US Virgin islands....

But Denmark don’t own Greenland - so even if we wanted to and you pretended we lived in the 17th century where countries was a commodity you just brought and sold - we would still not be in no position to sell it - they are part of our kingdom - with their own free will - UK couldn’t sell you Scotland either - the only way you can get it “legally” would be if they chose you after we had given them complete free rule - which we have no problem with - but they have said many times they don’t want that - so we defend them from you if you will

They could accomplish both without a "hostile take over". Will that happen? Nothing should surprise anyone in the world we are living right now....
It would really surprise me if you did invade it militarily - In no parallel universe can I see your top official generals greenlight that - it would be militarily suicide if we chose to fight you there - you would then have to occupy the hardest warzone on the planet with no outside help - and I am not trying to diss you guys military or anything - we agree it is way more advanced than ours atm - but believe me when I say - you don’t have arctic warfare equipment that even compare to one of the Nordic nations let alone 5 of them - and your generals know that

You do realize that as we speak, the US has been conducting cold weather training in Alaska for the past several years...essentially training in sub-zero weather and focusing on cold weather ops...
And as far as our submarines go, the US has been in the arctic since the 50's...ever heard of Operation Ice Camp..
And for equipment, currently development equipment that can function at -40 below...
And this is just what the public knows, which means the technology is probably 8-10 years ahead of its time...
And you know what the US likes to do with technology that others think we don't have??? Use it in situations when others think we don't have it...ala "Shock and Awe"
You can talk shit about the US all you want, but putting down our military and its capabilities is not wise...and if you think NATO would have been anything without the support from the US, that is just silly...without the US involvement in NATO, it would be futile based on its capacity, power and influence...Although other members of NATO may have wealth and military on its side, they lack a unified surveillance intelligence capabilities, structure and any type of deployment strength that the US provides...
Kind of silly to even argue this point with the US being the main significant superpower alliance member.... keep trying in your effort to diminish the US dominance as it relates to military and power...

armed insurrection in what streets? US or Greenland? US is completely different story as most would know. Guns per capita, guns per owner, types of guns, etc. vastly different in Greenland. Really not even a comparison of what an armed insurrection on the street level would look like in US vs. Greenland
