Current heat dome over 160 million Americans would be virtually impossible without global warming from burning of fossil fuels according to World weather attribution. Meanwhile after firing of hundreds of scientists from NOAA and other government agencies, 80 volunteers revived trusted climate information website that Trump administration took offline in 2025. Science should not disappear when politics change.

These betting markets are so corrupt, this bet is probably just a head fake, to get all kinds of suckers to start making the same exact bet, surpassing that 400k bet by the one person.
Hes not getting booted and dictators like him dont give up that kind of power on their own.

The January–February 2026 North American cold wave was an extreme weather event that brought bitterly cold temperatures to the majority of the North American continent, particularly the countries of Canada, the United States, Mexico and Central America during the second half of January through early February 2026. The reach of the cold temperatures extended far across the continent, reaching as far south as Belize. It was caused by a southward migration of the polar vortex, following a sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) event at the start of 2026. A winter storm at the end of the month reinforced the pattern, which continued into the first week of February. Several winter weather events associated with the cold wave proliferated across the United States, allowing snow to reach as far south as Texas and Florida. The cold wave caused damaging and sometimes crippling effects across numerous parts of North America
Three towns in Saskatchewan broke cold weather records on January 22 at night. Many more towns in the province also had broken records by January 22
United States
On January 24, record low high temperatures were set at many sites across the New York Metropolitan area.
4 °C). Daytona Beach recorded a temperature of 23 °F (−5 °C), setting the record for the coldest February day. Melbourne set the coldest February day on February 1 and 2.
]Cleveland, Ohio recorded eight consecutive days with high temperatures of 17 °F (−8 °C) or below, January 24−31, tying records from 1893 and 1899.

Cold days can still occur as climate warms. Over past few decades, winter temperatures have been rising with many places experiencing fewer cold days. But the weather in any location varies. Warming weakens jet stream to release Arctic cold air south. Warming causes more water to evaporate into atmosphere. So global warming can even cause heavy snowfall when cold temperature combines with moist air.

My point was you posted a weather event and cite claims it could only happen because of man burning fossil fuels. So I posted a weather event lasting longer and impacting millions more.
Oh no!
Heat domes or heat waves as they used to be called happened throughout our history. The 1930's a good example. For New York City the worst heat wave is listed as late August, 1953. So I disagree that a current "heat dome" is impossible without fossil fuel burning. A ridiculous statement. The majority of each state's all-time record high is pre-1960. This wouldn't be true if man-made climate change is making record higher temps.
So my stance is this;
If you wanna say overnite lows are higher and heat waves linger a few days more you will get no agrument from me. The data says so. You wanna say winters are warmer overall, again no arguement. CO2 traps escaping heat, holding it longer, it does not amplity heat.
But cold winters and years still happen. In Michigan 2014 tied 1950 as the 10th coldest year in 131 years of data. This 2026 had been an extremely cold January and February so we'll see what this year ends up at.
You wanna say hurricanes are worse, I say no they are not. In fact from 1900 to 1986 at least once every ten years a hurricane hit the United States in June. This year marks 39 years in a row that a hurricane has not hit in June. Has man burning fossil fuels ended June hurricanes from hitting the US? And hurricanes prior to satelites were not scrutinized like now so the comparisons are skewed.
When a heat wave hits it's all the news, "never woulda happened" crap. Well, it has happened, over and over in history.

Its not being an alarmist. If people cant see with their own 2 eyes, then you will never convince them that this stuff is real and there really isnt nothing we can do to stop it.
And please dont come back with the fox news BS, that the earth comes in cycles blah blah blah. Whats happening isnt cycles, its change.
Magas that dont believe, are only hurting their kids and their kids etc etc

@cd329 Ain't no climate change TP cd, when the sun hits the earth, then there will be climate change. It's hot on the beaches here, and the tourists love it. TP cd Blame'n, blame'n, blame'n on TRump.
Sorry pal, i never said this was trumps fault. This has been in the making for years and all the money in the world cant change the damage now. If you want to walk around with blinders on saying theres nothing nothing and make stupid comments about how everything is okay until the suns hit the earth, go right ahead. Thats your choice.

@UNIMAN "heat dome impossible without global warming"
Extreme weather is supposed to be rare. In a cooler climate, some heat domes would be virtually impossible. But global warming has increased the risk of extreme weather. For example, one in 100 years event becomes common. Over 99% of climate scientists accept that current global warming is caused by burning of fossil fuels.

Unlike natural warming, current warming is happening in decades instead of thousands of years. Earth temperature is supposed to be cooling because of orbit. Instead global warming at rate faster than average rate after ice age. Most plausible explanation is greenhouse effect from burning of fossil fuels. Not sun, volcano, orbit or natural cycle.

Why is the current heat wave extreme? I can find several in the past surpassing this heat wave. It is not extreme. Once in a 100 year events have always been common as there are millions of locations to chose from. Hyping an event does not make it any different. List several "once in a hundred years" events and I'll show you double from history,
And no, climate scientists say coal is adding to global warming and not THE CAUSE. Since the end of the little ice age around 1850 ice has been melting and oceans have been rising and global temps have been on the rise.

Extreme weather is unexpected or unusual phenomena for a specific region that significantly deviates from historical norms and poses a threat to human life, infrastructure or ecosystem. For example, World weather attribution scientists determine that June 2026 Europe heat wave would be virtually impossible without extra global warming after comparisons with heat waves of 1976 and 2003.
