Cold days can still occur as climate warms. Over past few decades, winter temperatures have been rising with many places experiencing fewer cold days. But the weather in any location varies. Warming weakens jet stream to release Arctic cold air south. Warming causes more water to evaporate into atmosphere. So global warming can even cause heavy snowfall when cold temperature combines with moist air.
My point was you posted a weather event and cite claims it could only happen because of man burning fossil fuels. So I posted a weather event lasting longer and impacting millions more.

Heat domes or heat waves as they used to be called happened throughout our history. The 1930's a good example. For New York City the worst heat wave is listed as late August, 1953. So I disagree that a current "heat dome" is impossible without fossil fuel burning. A ridiculous statement. The majority of each state's all-time record high is pre-1960. This wouldn't be true if man-made climate change is making record higher temps.
So my stance is this;
If you wanna say overnite lows are higher and heat waves linger a few days more you will get no agrument from me. The data says so. You wanna say winters are warmer overall, again no arguement. CO2 traps escaping heat, holding it longer, it does not amplity heat.
But cold winters and years still happen. In Michigan 2014 tied 1950 as the 10th coldest year in 131 years of data. This 2026 had been an extremely cold January and February so we'll see what this year ends up at.
You wanna say hurricanes are worse, I say no they are not. In fact from 1900 to 1986 at least once every ten years a hurricane hit the United States in June. This year marks 39 years in a row that a hurricane has not hit in June. Has man burning fossil fuels ended June hurricanes from hitting the US? And hurricanes prior to satelites were not scrutinized like now so the comparisons are skewed.
When a heat wave hits it's all the news, "never woulda happened" crap. Well, it has happened, over and over in history.

For example, one in 100 years event becomes common. Over 99% of climate scientists accept that current global warming is caused by burning of fossil fuels.

Unlike natural warming, current warming is happening in decades instead of thousands of years. Earth temperature is supposed to be cooling because of orbit. Why is the current heat wave extreme? I can find several in the past surpassing this heat wave. It is not extreme. Once in a 100 year events have always been common as there are millions of locations to chose from. Hyping an event does not make it any different. False. Implying intent to deliberately maximize damage is nonsense. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. No credible evidence supports this.
Nothing shows they have made them 'as frequent as possible'. Many factors influence wildfires that have always been going on far before this administration.

In general, if all else is equal drilling more simply implies more supply and more production would have downward pressure on prices.
There have been great strides in reducing the pollution and bad things that come with drilling, etc.
Not having to rely on imports reduces potential dependency on places that could withhold supply for whatever reason.
Energy security is very, very important.
A lot of the conventional USA oilfields produce at relatively low costs.
There have been great strides made in alternative energy. But to assume there is a one catchall replacement, or even several, that would all of a sudden replace oil is reaching at this point.
So, the costs would not be anywhere near cheaper in the short run. Costs for research and infrastructure and transmission and storage would be enormous and to assume that this would be overcome even in the long term is questionable.
