When dealing against the pandemic, people need to believe in medical science. Trusting in ideological misinformation can only make health issues in our society much worse. 

Vaccination rate is the key difference in 2021.  Vaccines are effective in preventing severe illness.  But almost 40% of republican counties remain unvaccinated, compared to 10% of democrat counties according to New York times.  This situation is a national tragedy in which irrational fears of vaccines overwhelmed rational fears of a deadly virus.  It stems from disinformation from right wing media that preys on distrust.

The vaccines are easily the biggest game changer toward ending the pandemic.

But almost 40% of the population are refusing to help the cause.

According to Stella Kyriakides, European Commissioner for Health & Food Safety, that record surges of Covid-19 case of hospitalizations in last several weeks are mainly due to infections of the unvaccinated people.

Europe is suffering another wave.

Winter coming and more people will be indoors for much longer periods across the northern hemisphere.

Apparently, vaccination rates are still too low against more contagious delta variant.  However rates of deaths and hospitalizations are lower than a year ago according to the Guardian.  Vaccines are working to prevent serious illness.  Portugal at 88% vaccination rate seems to be withstanding trend of rising cases in Europe.  Without vaccination and public health mitigations, the situation could be worse.

You say this as if the world has vaccines ready for every variant. You do realize that vaccines are usually studied and tested for years before being released, right? You know that there are side effects to vaccines which is why they are studied for so long, right? It's not a piece of candy that just magically gets made over night with some sugar.

If there are lock downs in the US they will be under the authority of the State and not the Federal Government.  Did we not learn anything about this the first time around?? 

Hologram Joe's handlers cannot make a "law" or institute lockdowns on a national level.  IF it comes to that, they will make stern mandates out loud in public that hold no legal or authoritative weight and rely on the states to do their bidding.
