Shutdown of Trump administration investigation because of ineffective use of resources after doubts about legitimacy of discoveries.  Trump tries to blame China for pandemic and cherry picks information to support conspiracy theories.  Instead Biden orders new report from US intelligence.  Unclear how much can be learned in 90 days because of limited cooperation from China and years of investigations required to find origin of other viruses in the past. 

For doctor Fauci and majority of scientists, evidences supporting animal origin are far stronger than for  lab origin.  Unlikely National institute of health funds risky research that lead to pandemic.  Lab accidents are rare while 75% of new infectious diseases come from animals.  Uncertain if sick Wuhan lab workers contract coronavirus.  Even if coronavirus comes from lab, no proof that genome has been manipulated.  Unlikely bio-engineering leaves no genetic signature.

You do know that they take diseases from animals and work in them in labs right? 

So saying that 75% of infectious diseases come from animals is irrelevant. 

Id be willing to bet that they now have proof that the virus escaped from the lab and now they’re just getting out in front of the story.

According to fact checker Fullfact, Dalgleish and Sorensen research paper doesn't claim coronavirus is man made.  Earlier versions of paper suggest bio-engineering because of odd sequence in protein.  This is not evidence of bio-engineering because sequence can occur through mutation and is found in other viruses.  Their paper has been rewritten many times.  Final version in Biophysics discovery journal doesn't make any claims about whether coronavirus is natural or manipulated.  The scientific community still widely believe coronavirus wasn't bio-engineered.

The fact that Facebook has changed its stance on discussion of Covid's origin seems like a sign that that the whole combatting misinformation industry is really broken.

 A week or two after Trump stated the lab theory Fauci came out and said it was from animals. His emails show other scientists early on telling him the virus looks like it had been engineered.

Money from NHI went to Daszak and he gave some of it to Wuhan Lab for bat coronavirus research. If it came out the pandemic was a result of this research they all would be in hot water. So Daszak orchestrated the Lancet Letter to squash that theory. Fauci went along with it.
