To no surprise, I'm not a fan so far of Robert Redfield who as you know is the Director. He's been in the position for 2 years but when he was interviewed by Cali Rep Katie Porter, I didn't feel his confidence or conviction. In fact, Porter badgered him until he would use his legal authority to provide free virus testing for all Americans.
Like other directors in Trump's administration getting to the truth is an ordeal.

I almost cracked a rib this morning laughing at Trump's attempt to say these words. You can find a video on Google where you can see this poor bastard struggling to say these words & he sounds like a total fool to everyone around the world.

The head of the Veterans Health Administration has banned most administrative staff from working at home. They must go to the facilities.
Wednesday morning I got a call from my contact at the Veterans Home in Grand Rapids, MI & she was in need of a favor. I took care of the need & learned that she & her team were on lock down & were putting Army cots together to stay overnight with the vets.
Most vets at the home suffer from anxiety/depression & their needs overwhelmed the night shift team which is already a scaled down version of the daytime staff.
It's all hands on deck there & I imagine it's the same across the country.
We must stand up for all displaced workers (and we will). But let’s get something straight. The major cruise lines sail under foreign flags to avoid paying the U.S. corporate tax rate. (I didn't realize this.) And now some want the American taxpayer to bail them out? Get. Lost.

You Can't Make This Stuff Up!
For years, Trump administration has made the US less prepared against pandemics. According to Center for global development, closing US pandemic response team of National security council is a gross misjudgment. His budget cuts weaken Center for disease control, Institute of health and Agency for international development. Especially their abilities to research, detect and prevent disease outbreaks. According to wikipedia, cuts to CDC slashed 80% of its global disease outbreak program. Loss of funding for epidemiology and lab capacity at state levels. Resulting in only a fraction of public health labs being able to screen people for coronavirus. Elimination of crisis fund which allows state department to deploy disease experts in the event of outbreaks. Starving public health agencies of critical funds make it harder to react quickly to public health emergencies.
According to Kaiser family foundation, US is less prepared than other countries. Sabotage of obamacare takes away healthcare insurance from millions of Americans. John Hopkins center for health security anticipated nationwide shortage of test kits, ventilators and medical supplies. According to Associated press, Trump administration is moving forward to kick 700,000 Americans off food stamps despite high unemployment caused by pandemic. According to American enterprise institute, 2017 changes to tax code would make it harder for businesses to bounce back after a recession. Center for strategic and international studies concluded lack of preparation is so acute in Trump administration that US could pay a great price in human and economic costs.
Why not let United fail completely...they dont "need" to be bailed out again. This is business, not a charity...where companies fail, others will succeed.
There are plenty of other good airlines who played buy the books and didnt "cheat" the system...reward those and let the free market decide who succeeds and who fails.
