I use to think Trump was the cause of what’s happened to the GOP! But if you step back and look at their complete body of elected members this is not the case. What obvious to me now that Trump is a born into wealth unpolished slub that has no control of what comes out of his mouth which makes him a fabulous barometer of public opinion for the Republican Party with no chance of push back because he said it not them! Regardless of how bazaar he behaves Republicans depending on the public’s  take either agree or Just blow it off or Its being taken out of context or They didn’t hear that! But in reality Republicans and the base voters has grown and are the same if not worse, their policies are the same, their love of power over country is the same. No Trump didn’t “corrupt” them, he simply stripped away the veneer the party was hiding behind ….And he comes with no cost. Of money or No direct plausibility and millions of new voters that didn’t vote ! Just you look back to 2020 when Trump received the 2nd most votes of any candidate for POTUS in our entire history. It was the second highest turnout election in the US in the last 100 years, with only 1960 having a higher turnout. On the Republican side those new voters were mostly people who didn’t vote for the likes of Bush, Romney, or McCain because they weren’t Trumpy enough. Those voters want a simple-minded leader who is bigoted and will try to “own the progressives & liberals. JMHO

In 335-91 house vote, 209 democrats join 126 republicans in passing stopgap bill to avert government shutdown.  Bill doesn't include Ukraine aid or border policy changes.  Currently, there is still Ukraine aid in the pipeline for another 45 days.  Perhaps, future aid could be attached to a different bill later on.  Now McCarthy might be at greater risk of losing job as speaker.
