In the aftermath of the massive Feeding Our Future scandal and broader allegations of systemic fraud in Minnesota’s social programs, a troubling theme has emerged: accusations of racism repeatedly used to deflect scrutiny, intimidate investigators and stall accountability. 

Rumors and reports of fraud in Minneapolis, primarily within the city’s exploding Somali community, have been circulating for at least a decade, but criticism of the fraud has been largely dismissed by elected Democrats as "racist" or being underpinned by animosity toward foreigners. News stories focused on Somali fraudsters in recent years were shot down as "racist."

"The whole story kind of died under these accusations that people were being racist," Bill Glahn, policy fellow with Center of the American Experiment, told Fox News Digital. "Oh, maybe somebody stole a little bit here, a little bit there, but there's nothing systemic going on."

Former assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Teirab, who helped lead federal prosecutions in the Feeding Our Future case, described to Fox News Digital how individuals implicated in fraud leaned on racial accusations as a shield. According to Teirab, suspects explicitly invoked race during a secretly recorded meeting with Attorney General Keith Ellison, asserting that investigators were targeting them "only because of race."

Teirab called this tactic both deliberate and cynical. In one trial, a juror was even approached with a $120,000 cash bribe, allegedly accompanied by messaging intended to frame the investigation as racially motivated. The goal wasn’t just to escape prosecution, it was to taint the system itself by threatening anyone pursuing the truth with the specter of racial bias.

"It provided cover," Teirab told Fox News Digital. "Fraudsters knew the issue of race and racism was something they could use as a cudgel… It’s disrespectful to use those terms when they’re not appropriate, especially in a case where fraud clearly happened."

This is a real problem when we get too touchy/feely. And it only waters down real racial bias. And it is the reason I posted #21.

 Actually I do not see the "problem" as being dem vs repub or racism or touchy feely as you describe. I see the problem that politicians are not auditors or investigators so who the crap cares what party the politician is or if one or five or ten politicians are partisan, this does not in any way take a step towards or away from catching and proving fraud. 

The way to prove fraud is to have sufficient tools and resources to CATCH fraud and to investigate and prove it, those resources are NOT politicians and are not partisan, they are the little guys making median income that Musk wanted to fire the whole lot because of a lack of understanding of need for these exact types of people. So do you want low rate taxes or do you want to fund and equip government so they can have a remote shot at stopping fraud?

Fraud isnt only this instance, fraud exists due to our flawed human nature and exists in any and every opportunity. I do not see how this or any fraud can be stopped without an exponentially greater investment and infrastructure which costs a ton of money and would mean higher taxes and a huge commitment both initially and ongoing.

 Well, I do. A search here in Covers, Politics section, Fraud, gives me 49 threads talking about fraud yet THIS THREAD suddenly gets your scrutiny. And it seems that Barbarosa's #9 saying the culture of Somalia is garbage was the catalyst. Your reply was to point out that white people commit fraud too and what's the outrage, Dems or Somali's. Then you go after me with, "is it that brown skin foreigners were involved". That, IMO, is the same tactic the fraudsters used to try and squash the investigation. Make it racial, hatred of foreigners. Make people uncomfortable to speak their minds.

It was huge fraud.The MSM avoided it until they couldn't. Why? Was it dems or brown skin foreigners that made them sit back? 

Now I'm reading an attorney claims massive Somali fraud in Ohio, a red state. Yeah, I'm even more upset. That's just more of my tax dollars.

To you and Mugg it is all partisan Walz DEM LIB MEDIA blame, you have done pretty much nothing else here and yet I am over and over redirecting this clown show to what matters more and the truth about fraud including this one and ANY fraud then you deflect and turn everything partisan. Do you want to combat fraud or just partisan poke? My initial question was 100% spot on and you answered it the same way you answer most everything and shift the narrative back to partisan and away from the important matter which in this case is fraud.

 Trump backers have thin skin! White skin seems to the thinnest! But not when is given to Argentina or Israel or anyone else who brings wrapped gift to the White House! 38 trillion! 12 of which Trump has spent…..and we raise holy hell about 1 billion in a Democratic state!

 You could comb through his posts and probably find it but its not worth your time and angst, it is obvious he is partisan and likes to get you upset. There are several members here and gone who like pushing buttons but you can control if you allow it to impact you or not. I dont go with the extreme angle you do because extremes in either direction do not make for conversation or education. When I read intentional repetitive partisan stuff it is not educational or entertaining and that is in both directions. 

If a member has a history of baiting and playing word games with you and there is not any sense of sincere effort to make good conversation I would ignore it and try to find what does and not have a few partisan members push you into reactions and replies that are reactive and playing into their schemes.

And I am not here to lead but to express my opinion on political issues. I didn't create the thread, I responded to it. You have said so many times to stay out of others threads and here we are.

You as moderator are here to lead and I find your leanings amazingly one-sided. 48 previous fraud posts going both ways political party wise and this one is suddenly partisan and maybe racial and you found the need to continually interject.

 As mods we attempt to stop excesses of the rules and try to keep spammers out etc and that is all mods do. Your never ending partisan complaint has no relevance because mods can post and have views just like you. I am not one sided at all I would say out of all the posters in this area I am the most moderate by far. You take issue because when you and others break the rules there is recourse and you correlate recourse with partisan and there is your flaw. You can draw correlation to partisan and rule breaking though that 100% is completely true. One group that seems to be of a political position has a much greater instance of rule breaking. I never ever see your side take responsibility for the posts made for the trolling stalking combative rule breaking it never happens. Every time like you just did you fall back on the flimsy mod card and partisan complaining. This is as consistent as Trumps childish social media posts, both are very consistent. 

It is also interesting when others do break the rules and are boxed, the help section whining and temper tantrum throwing, the personal attacking insults and idiotic grade school threads in the box do not happen it never does. The correlation between infractions of one group, complaint and temper tantrum of that same group versus the other is blaringly stark and believe me the site knows what is going on with all you members here so the attempts to soil a mod or cry in the help section cannot work, all mods have proof and history for all decisions made.

Instead of fallback rollover whining just keep the rules and if you break the rules just own up on what happens because of it and try to do better going forward.

Iam passionate about some things and thats an easy target for trolls who like to bait people. And sitting behind a key board makes it so easy to do.

So you blur the line between "poster" and "mod". Maybe you should have two different login names, one as a mod responding as a mod and one as a lib, responding as a lib. 

If I were in a "leadership" role such as a mod, and I have been in several leadership roles in my careers, successful I might add, I would never interject my political views as a poster, or say, in college football. As a Michigan fan I detest Ohio State and many of their fans. As a mod I would never chastise Ohio State fans in the forums, I would moderate for the benefit of the site not satisfy myself.

That's not so with you. IMO, you are beyond one-sided and it shows. 

But like I always said, It's your sandbox, go for it.
