Democrat Taylor Rehmet won a special election
for the Texas state Senate on Saturday, flipping
a reliably Republican district that Trump won 
by 17 points in 2024.

Rehmet, a labor union leader and veteran, easily
defeated Republican Leigh Wambsganss  who was
endorsed by Trump! 

Republicans had held the seat for decades! 

Democrats continue to win special elections.  Further evidence that voters under Trump administration are motivated to reject GOP candidates and their policies.

Trump posted three times about the race in recent days, in clear hopes of juicing Election-Day turnout for Republicans.

But it didn’t work.  

MSNBC reports that republicans fear Trump crackdown on immigration could cost GOP midterm elections especially among latino voters.  Unlike border crossers, most illegal immigrants in cities have lived for over a decade in the US.  Their mass deportations have greater economic, social and political consequences.  Polls show most Americans disapprove of Trump handling of immigration and US economy.

 Surprising Number Of Voters Now Think Trump Is Becoming 'Erratic With Age'

 A new Reuters/Ipsos poll revealed growing doubts about his stability, even among members of his own party.

It found that 61% of Americans would describe Trump as having “become erratic with age.” Some 89% of Democrats, 30% of Republicans and a whopping 64% of independents described the president this way.

Only 45% of respondents said they would describe Trump as “mentally sharp and able to deal with challenges,” down from 54% in a September 2023.

   If the election were held today, 47% of voters say they would want to see the Democratic Party win control of the US House of Representatives, while only 43% would want to see the Republican Party win control of the House.

Historically, midterm elections tend to be about dissatisfaction with government.  When president's approval is 50% or more, his party loses a few seats in congress.  But if approval is below 50%, loss of many seats can be expected.
