Murder, a subcategory under the violent crime
category, decreased by 13%,
while rape decreased by 12% in the same
time frame across the U.S.

Robbery and aggravated assault each decreased by 5%.

2023 has the lowest US violent crime rate since 1969.  Previously as president, Trump tried to defund law enforcement in federal budget every year.  He continues to side with January 6 insurrectionists over police who defend capitol.  If re-elected, Trump would make communities less safe and roll back progress Biden has made to reduce crime.

Biden has supported law enforcement during his entire political career.  American rescue plan is the largest federal investment in public safety.  Safer communities act is one of the most significant gun violence prevention reforms in 30 years.  In contrast, republicans have proposed defunding law enforcement.

Polls show that while many people on all sides of the political spectrum wrongly believe it is increasing when IN FACT it's been decreasing, by a wide margin more republicans think that wrongly than democrats.
