Trump is lucky to inherit a strong economy from Biden.  However positive trajectory is starting to show weaknesses.  GDP contracted in the first quarter of 2025 in first quarterly decline in 3 years.  Also US dollar has biggest decline in first half of year in over 50 years because of loss of confidence due to Trump's bad economic policies.  If his tariffs are fully implemented, economists expect lower economic growth with higher inflation and unemployment in the future.

Trump has said that tariffs won’t lead to higher prices. But the US economy seems to disagree: Inflation, which has remained fairly tame, is slowly creeping up because of tariffs.

Trump’s latest round of higher taxes on imports, which went into effect Thursday, will immediately make imported goods from impacted countries more expensive in the United States.

The new tariffs will probably raise prices on:
