    Hello all,

I was playing a cash game last night 10-25 NL. I am in 1 seat there is a 50 dollar straddle. Four players limp, I am in late position with Q-Q I make it 250 to go.

Seat 6, in big blind makes it 750....now seat 6 is a solid player and a good player. I know he as a big hand, he knows I am tight but not afraid at all to get invovled if I feel my hand is good. Phil Laak is in 9 seat and is acting behind the reraiser, Phil has been pushing table around, up 10k when I get moved to the game. There are 2 tables.

So it is folded to me...I have like 3k in front of me my opponent has about 1500 left... I call the 750.

    Flop is A-J-3

My opponent pushes all in......what do you do???

    I folded and showed Queens

After he saw my queens he  flips over the other two queens.. not to be a jerk, actually a real good guy, just because he was shocked to see them.....we would have chopped...
I put him on AT WORST a big ace or jacks...maybe aces or kings...just not queens No chance he reraises in my opinion with tens or weaker..

What do you do in my spot?

I guess you have to fold there, dog.  Since I will happen to be in Vegas soon I have a couple questions:

If you were first to move, what would you have done ?

What was he thinking you had ?

And a real generic, amateur question:
If players "put someone on this or that" from what they bet, couldn't the guy have done that same all in with garbage, knowing you'd "put him on" a higher hand and probably fold anyway?

    Hey  Ts,

I would not have bet...I can not figure out how he would have not been ahead of me.

I do not know what he thought I had.

Yes a guy can go ALL IN with garbage after the flop especially with all that money in already....like 1800 or so....However BEFORE the flop is the issue TS, why would a smart guy , which he is, get cute with a handful of people in for 50 , THEN a raise to 250....he raisng to 750 is risky business...I could have if I had a big enough hand, and some people think  Q-Q is good enough,  pushed all in right there and force him to call. He had only about 1500 left. I think it is almost impossible with me raising, an aggressive game, and Phil Laak behind him, that a guy would get cute and raise without a BIG hand.

EVERY HAND I feel he may have had beats me after the flop....These are all my opinion of course, regading his play preflop

    AA      Played hand good
    KK      Played hand good
    AK      Played hand average
    JJ        Played hand average
    AQ       Too aggressive
    AJ        Too agressive

If he had any ace lower then ace jack he played it awful, any pair lower then tens..also awful..this is my opinion and again guy is a good player.

So with this flop I think I am smashed

Also TS what if I had a good ace or jj or even aces then I have an automatic call  and he is buried when he goes all in for his last like 1500...No he made a good move but I could not call him
See you in vegas next week

some guys really overplay big pairs like that, if he is a good player then hard to imagine what he thought you had raising like that, would have to be queens or better, or AK is a very likely suspect. So him pushing in is a big losing play overall as AK will not fold, KK maybe fold but he is dead, JJ he is dead, and some players cannot fold any Ace so he is in trouble there too.

    dog,

I agree with the fold on that flop.  Based on the fact that you said he was a good player I think you are way behind on that flop.  Normally do not see the reraise to 750 with QQ there.  Hard to lay it down but that was a horrible flop for you.

    Sm,

I do not even mind his reraise there, for 250 if he flat calls it is unlikely we lose everyone else.  A few players had yet to act on my raise and they were already in for the 50 straddle. If he flat calls he may price in all of them. Then if we are like 4 handed any ace or king and he is dead.  I think he played well and since he was first to act got to push me around  I just felt it was the worst possible flop and he outplayed me with it

    Thanks for your input

same thing here...nice fold not to chase good money after bad...AK or JJ are likely, maybe AQ suited too...unlikely 33 unless the players table image would play any pocket pairs.

Yes it is a good commercial, the guys vein in his jaw expands.  I think I made the right move even though he actually had the same hand which is of course quite rare. In this case we would have chopped.

Funny night for queens that evening. Less then 30 minutes later at the other table, there are two tables the other game is 5-10, a flop came 9-10-J  both players pushed with Q-Q.  that is pretty extraordinary considering the hand I played less then an hour prior at the main table.

I agree that there was no way to think you were ahead there. Perhaps he figured that since you are a tight aggressive player ( I think this is how you would describe his thoughts on you) that with AA KK or even QQ you would come over the top preflop instead of calling. He may even think that you are too good of a player to chase AK preflop. Then when the A hits, he is playing against your  1010  99 or even QQ instead of playing his own hand.
Either way its a tough hand and there wasnt much you could do.
If only I had the 750 to make a call like that... or even 50 to my name to make the stradle..

Just a bad flop for you, and with him acting first and firing right away, I would have put him on hitting and Ace.

Did you take Jamie Gold's money yet?  I can't stand that fucker and I told you next time you play him to take him for every thing he has on him.

have not seen Mr gold  since that day at commerce a few weeks back.  He really is great for a game, but if he catches cards especially now with his rep, he will  have a huge night.

I really think if he changed styles 100% and hit all the big card rooms with his world famous reputation as a maniac he would pick up 600k  before anyone realized he changed up

QQ overall. A more overrated hand than A-K IMO.

    That being said...

Playing a 2-5 game at a local casino here in San Diego this week, I pick up pocket Q's the hand after I bluffed about $300 on a board with a flush out there.

So I pickup the ''ladies'' from the small blind, UTG makes it $25, three callers behind him including who I think is the best player on the table who calls on the button.
I'm thinking about making it $200 and taking the pot but with so much action behind me, I end up just calling.

    Flop comes
Q-6-6 with two hearts out there so I'm  doing >

    I end up picking up a $700.

The hand was played pretty weird, original raiser checks the flop and the guy behind him pushes $140 all in, one player behind him folds and the player who I consider the best on the table just calls after a good 15 seconds, I'm somewhat terrified of him having quads i'm not going to lie.

Well it turns out that after I call, the original raiser folds, a Jack on the turn, I bet then get raised by the button. River is a blank.

In conclusion, original raiser layed down Kings(weird he didnt lead out) and the button had Aces.

I asked him why he didnt pop it preflop, he said he saw me playing with chips and really believed I was going to raise so he just called waiting for me to take action.
It turns out if I do reraise preflop, Kings pop it again and Aces push.
I dont know about you but I dont want to put more than $600 into the pot with QQ preflop with a reraise and a push, I'm not sure I wouldve called preflop for all that money

HELL NO you can not put 600 in preflop in a 2-5 game with Q-Q. Thankfully you did not pop it to 200 "to take the pot "because then you are on the sideline when that lovely flop comes.  Good that guy thought he was going to come over the top on you, it did not happen and you picked up a juicy pot

Good that guy thought he was going to come over the top on you, it did not happen and you picked up a juicy pot

if you are short stacked you have to push with QQ as you would be committed to the pot and don't want an ace to hit then WTF are you gonna do? It all depends on your stack and position. But it is very rare for QQ to not be the top hand before the flop, I think about 85 % it will be the best. Then again you run into KK or AA you are up the creek.

God father I understand what you are saying, however in this circumstance  if he raised he has to dump the Q-Q......He said it was raised and he was considering popping it again to 200...if he did the K-K behind him reraises or pushes...and then the A-A behind him Pushes over the K-K  Push!! ..... How on earth could you then put another 400 in a pot , you just lost 200 that you have to forget. You KNOW someone has A -A or K-K nevermind it turns out they had both!!

Not raising he got the chance to see that heavenly Q-6-6 flop and scored a huge pot.
