guy shoves with nothing, has to know it was comin right soblatant?

 Those 2 hands are not unusual at all, as you well know.  Show us something remotely interesting where you where 80+% favorite after the flop.

My apologies.  Okay, you were actually a 80.61% favorite, where you are suppose to basically LOSE 1 out of those 5 situations.  A one or two-outer turn/river beat (90+% favorite) would provide a better example.

I lost with quads to a rivered straight flush on tilt.......hit a set on the flop.....bet....other guy raised all in with his nut flush draw. I hit quads on the turn with the 9 diamond.....which gave him four to a straight flush...he hit his straight flush on the river.

Nobody played the hand wrong....falls into the shit happens category. The only thing I can figure is that the live casinos rigged this hand to happen online so they wouldn't have to pay me the losers share of a bad beat jackpot had this happened live

1st) You shouldnt call a preflop raise with J/9 off

2nd) You should have never called his all in with top pair medium kicker

You will not do very well playing heads-up sitngos if you follow rules 1 and 2 above

I will elaborate


Preflop : Its a min-raise and he min-raised practically every button. No way Im laying down J9 HU to a min raise

On the flop : Guys who overshove like this have top pair Jack kicker beat about 20% of the time (if that). SNAP call

Cant look at everything in a vacuum pal. Its not "just a preflop raise", its a friggen min raise, im gettin 3 to 1 deepstackin with J9, easy easy call preflop.

Also, like I said, the ridiculous overshove rarely has my top pair beat, and I speak from being in this same spot 100s if not 1000s of times. If this was an MTT instead of a HUSNG I could definitely consider folding but in a HUSNG no way Im letting this go

Yeah i'm sorry but that's absolutely hideous advice.

I play alot of heads-up myself. And he played the hand fine considering I dont know anything about the opponent.

Short handed tournament play is MUCH MUCH different than any other form of Poker.

Therefore the skillset/strategy needed to play shorthanded tournaments is much different than normal Poker theory.

If this was a full ring cash game you can criticize the play.

But in a head up match he did nothing wrong.

  Very well put.  Heads up play is a completely different game.  If you fold J9 HU to a min raise, you should not even be gambling.  And flopping top pair against an AGGRESSIVE opponent is usually good enough, REGARDLESS of your kicker. 

Maybe I need to experiment again with smaller stakes ($5/10)heads up play.  I just get bored against TIGHT players, even though I know playing more aggressive against them is the way to go, as you know THEY have some sort of hand or draw when you get called or raised.

i can blow that example out of the water...

i'm holding pocket 2s... small raise pre-flop, gets one caller (he is holding A J)...

flop comes 2 8 A... small bet, he raises, i go all in, he calls... i have successfully drawn him all-in and have him completely dominated... he has 5 outs (A A J J J), but he has to hit them with runner runner...

his exact odds of winning the hand are:  5/45 * 4/44 = 1/9 * 1/11 = 1/99 or almost exactly 1%...

he hits an Ace on the turn, Jack on the river, to beat my full house...
