I understand what your saying colonel, but you have to remember most players are bad players. They all don't re-raise for information, infact a lot of players are scared to throw out $400 to find out where they are at in a hand. Unless you have this guy pegged as a good player I would give him credit for the raise.

i can immediately think of one, i was actually going to include this in my post but i didnt think it would really matter. Anyway, i was playing in a heads up and i was on the button in a 2/5 game, it got down to this because we play a "king of the felt" type game. I had about 7-800 and the other guy had 5-600, anyway so i was on the button with j9s, no big deal i just make a standard opening raise to 15 and he calls. Flop comes jj7 or something of that liking with two flush cards. My opponent bet out and i called, because i knew how he played and he wasnt betting a flushdraw there, posibyl a pair of 7s and possibly a high card. Anyway so i just called his $20 bet so the pot is at 70. The turn is a card that was irrelevant to me but it added another draw to the board. This time he bet 40 and i raised him 40 more. He thought for a short time and just called. The river was another irrelevant card and my opponent checks, i bet about 60ish and he calls. I show him trips and he says, wow and mucks.
-Later on after the game he tells me that he had 7s there and he would never have called me had i made the play i normall would but the minimum raise on the turn really through him off, you really have to ask yourself, why is my opponent making this bet? You wouldnt be thinking, well he has trips of course, i know my first instinct would be that hes on a big draw, its actually a situational thing and so thats really hard to say. But anyway, the poitn was that because i made a minimum raise, it through off my opponents read and got him to call a bet on the river he usually wouldnt have.

I'd have folded to your raise. Just because I'm not really the type to risk my whole stack to an unknown player. If I had a history or any type of read my response may be different. In this case I just knock the table, say nice hand and move ahead.

I agree that against a competant player he may be trying to feel you
out. However no competant player is gonna make such a retarded raise
with AK on a board like that. And an incompetant player thinks Ak is
the nuts there and will neevr fold. You honestly completly out though
yourself on this hand.

with 2 cards still to come a guy with AK is always thinking he has outs. If this was after the river and of course depending on the board the guy may fold. Calling an all in after the flop with tp and tk is usually the right mover its very hard to fold.

I mean good move, but wrong timing. If I had the AK I lay it down in a heart beat but weaker players will say they are pot commited or they just can't fold big hands. The only thing I have trouble with is you believing he was not that strong because of his reraise. He could have had AQ and put out a min reraise to see if the flush came on the turn. If he put you on a flush draw and there was no spade, he can then go all in knowing only a terible player would call on turn. If he goes all in on flop, many weak players would call with a spade draw on flop but not on turn. A good player once told me if u think someone is on a flush draw raise them minimally on the flop to see the turn. If he hits, you get away without losing your whole stack. If not, you force him to call and build a bigger pot where he might have folded to an all in. Then go all in on turn. GL in the future
