I have to agree, it is not going anywhere. In fact excluding Florida we have double the cases right now as compared to same time last year. The younger are now more infected. 

So what happens when classes begin?? 

Data from overseas suggests even if all were vaccinated the spread will continue, maybe cut in half, less hospitalizations.

Florida's hospitalization numbers are puzzlingly high. Just over 380,000 positive cases in January and hospitalizations never made it over 8,000. Last 30 days they had 450,000 positive cases and have over 13,000 in the hospital. Maybe the rapid ascent of cases is to blame. 

I say wait two months and see where our nation is at. 

Telling college football players to get vaccinated and you won't get tested sounds like a pipe dream right now. Believe that carrot will be yanked away shortly. It should be with all the reported breakthroughs!

Or maybe that rule will stay so a vaccinated member who gets and spreads the virus can keep his/her mouth shut until the unvaxed member who got it from the vaxed teammate gets tested and receives all the blame. Sounds about right.

Either way another mess this fall.

 It'll sound crazy but people getting it is a good thing in the long run. People were throwing around the term "herd immunity" last year. Well now we are in a position to start working towards actual herd immunity. And people catching it, and getting sick, is a huge part of it. This delta variant, on the service, seems to have symptoms more akin to coronaviruses that cause common cold like symptoms similar to rhinoviruses. Cough. Scratchy throat. Congestion. No fever. No loss of taste/smell. I haven't been following it close enough, because I really don't give a shit anymore, I haven't been following close enough to see if this variant causes some of the long term organ damage that the earlier variants do. I know it won't be a popular opinion but kids catching codes, if there is no long term organ damage, is just what the doctor ordered.

 The last we need is panic and shutting everything down. People, outside of the elderly and healthcare workers, aren't going to going to be getting yearly covid shots. Hell, I have't have a flu shot since I was a child, like 30 years ago. I have't had the flu in that time either. At a certain point, natural immunity has to factor in. This shit was floating around in 2019. So prior to lockdowns, there were plenty of people exposed without even knowing it. Then there are the people who got it and recovered. These are all pieces of the puzzle. I'm all for vaccines. Even experimental mRNA vaccines but they are but one piece of the puzzle.

I only want for covid to go away ...Too many muricans are not going to take covid seriously until it tragically impacts one of their loved ones or themselves ...
