Burke is the most overrated GM in the game, the Leafs are an absolute train wreck. Way to add a D-Man on his way down and a goalie who basically had 1 or 2 years. Good thing they didnt try to get any skill players, wouldnt want to address that issue.

Phaneuf on his way down? The guy has been a tough 50+ points dman for the past 4 years. One off-season and everyone's ready to throw him to the wolves.

Good deal for both teams Phaneuf needed a change and this gives Calgary some depth to make another deal for a scoring forward like Kovalchuk or maybe Lecavalier! Sutter is not done yet.

Can we get an unbiased opinion in here? No offense but it's not surprising that all of the negative opinions about these trades are coming from the known Leaf-haters in this forum. C'mon guys. Try being objective about the Leafs for once in your lives.

weebs i think this is a great deal for toronto, however i have to agree that the trade has made an already inept offense even worse.

i am truly shocked at how little the leafs had to give up to get phaneuf, the only thing i can think from the flames persepctive is that this has to open the door for Kovy going to Calgary

I'll give you that much. They just traded away Stajan. Wondering what the hell they're gonna do up the middle since they were weak there to begin with.

I definitely think its a great deal for toronto if phaneuf plays well. The parts given up are worthless so it all depends if they get stuck with an average player with a giant contract or a great player with that contract.

Giguere for Toskala and Blake.

No mention of any draft pick, though.

Do you idiots realizerthat the leafs are 6th overall in 5 on 5 scoring? This is a fantastic deal. 50 point defenseman that hits like a truck and has a rocket of a shot?!!??!? Stajan is a third liner Mayers is a 4th liner or 13 th forward tough to see Ian White go but I'll take phaneuf over him any day. Hagman is a solid goal scorer but the question still remains who will play centre in calgary?

and even more offense is lost, they are going to be tough to play against physically but any team playing them as to think if they can score twice they are minimally getting 1 point

There is no way the Leafs got a 1st rounder with Giggy. That would be a steal for sure.

too bad they don't play 60 mins of 5 on 5, they are 25th overall in PP and now just gave up 2 of their top 4 scorers

I really dont understand the move for Giguere........why add $3m to the goaltending position for a guy near the end of his career..its not as if they will be winning the cup next year.If he gets a 1st rounder back as well then it is a bit different but if not,why waste the cap space??

How can major a major shake up make the Leafs any worse? Burke's seen enough. He's no dummy. I haven't had time to digest all this, but seriously this team cannot get much worse.
