I think the only way Stajan gets 70+ points is if he plays with Iginla for an ENTIRE season.

Wow you must really hate toronto to put stupid shit like this on here. Toronto finally got a big name player and people try to cut him up already.

Its funny people always loved Phaneuf, but now that he is in Toronto everyone is saying what a piece of shit he is. All you haters just remember when your team comes to are town one of your players just might get knocked the fuck out

Again the Phaneuf trade was made by Burke to save his ass with the deal he made for Kessel! Remember the Bruins could end up with the number one pick in Hall or Seguin. The Leafs again trading away youth to get Kessel. Burke has done nothing to improve the Leafs if he doesn't build through the draft. He basically got Phaneuf to say to the Leaf fans we lost out on Hall and Seguin but Phaneuf was a first rounder. Calgary had to make a deal and who you going to move your best asset on the blueline yet he wasn't the best defenseman on the the roster anymore he was brutal in his own end. Phaneuf makes 6.5 million a year for the next four if i am correct. Now the leafs have Kaberle, Phaneuf, Schenn, Komisarek, Finger, Exelby and Beauchemin who without Pronger or Niedermayer playing beside looks brutal! The forwards are Kessel and that's right no one else so how are the Leafs better. If they are better they might be better because Phaneuf can open ice hit better than anyone! I love Phaneuf he just hasn't been the same in the last year something isn't right. I hope for the Leaf fans Calgary can once again help your team like we did in the Gilmour steal! I would love to see the Leafs win a cup i just hope it happens in my lifetime.

I agree that the kessel trade was a bad trade but that does not change the fact that toronto made a good trade here.Toronto lost some offence so you ask how they are a better team, how are thay a worse team. We got a franchise player for three very average players who can be replaced easy in the off season.

I was not talking about any of this shit anyways. I was just saying that everyone is shiting on Phaneuf now that he is in T.O when the fact is that everyone would love to have him on there team.

I wouldn't want him on my team.  Locker room cancer (seriously how can you beef with Robyn Regher)

Hasn't shown anything since his rookie campaign.

You are labelling him a franchise player for reasons I know not....what a silly title for a guy who was the #5 guy on Cgy's D-line.

If he is their franchise player then there is no end in sight.

All they did was put another big bruiser dummy on the Dline.  In the new NHL, these big lugs can't hang with the little speedsters anymore.  Komisarek and Schenn have not been able to keep up with the pace and are often in the penalty box because of it.

Ian White has more points this season.

+7 over last two seasons playing with the worst defensive team in the league.  Phaneuf -8 on a much more defensively sound team with better goaltending.

Ian White can play the wing when needed, and can play both the PK and PP.

Now you look at the salary difference.

Now you look at the fact you just gave up a consistent 25-30 goal scorer in Hagman, and a decent 3rd liner (60 points) in Stajan.

Great, by all accounts Phaneuf is a younger version of Brian McCabe

Now how excited can Leaf's nation be with that assesment?

BRIAN McCABE people!!! who all us Leaf fans would BOO off the ice everytime he touched the puck

Hopefully Phaneuf won't score as many goals into his own net as McCabe did

    Brian Burke is a GENIOUS

Hasnt shown anything since his rookie year are u serious

    Rookie year 49 points

    2nd year 50

    3rd 60

    4th 47

White is having his best year every getting alot of minutes and all of a sudden hes better then Phaneuf

And stajan OMG he has never hit 60 points ever you make sound like he can get 60 playing on the 3rd line he got 55 last year playing first line minutes and 33 the year before playing 2nd line minute.

Please dont try to educate me on my team maybe me spelling but not my team.

I was shitting on Phaneuf i just said Burke made the deal to save his ass for the Kessel trade. Wouldn't Leaf fans want Hall or Seguin i would they are both going to be stars in the NHL in the future. Bottom line is Phaneuf was not in Calgary's top 3 blue liners anymore so Calgary made the trade Phaneuf is not going to make the Leafs that much better with the defenseman they have the Leafs blue line is still brutal. Burke did get rid of Blake he did something good but to think Phaneuf makes the Leafs that much better watch and see how many times he is on the ice for goals against! He isn't a franchise player like you think he is i disagree with that. I am a Flames fan and i aint mad we traded Phaneuf and you said teams would love to have them on there team why couldn't the Flames find those teams they tried. The deal for Phaneuf should have been made last year for Heatley Sutter should have pulled the trigger then he wouldn't have scoring problems now!

I didn't say anything about your spelling.

Phaneuf is not a forward, so why are you pointing out his offensive stats?

He is a useless defender(which is where the Leafs struggle) a minus rating on a winning club....has been pegged as a poor decision maker (exactly what the Leafs need right?)

I never said White is better than Phaneuf...simply pointing out he does the same job practically, for a fraction of the cost.

And when you add Stajan (50 points even is still a decent player) and a 25-30 goal scorer...there is really no case you can make for this being a good trade.

Regher tries to give the kid pointers and tips, but Phaneuf thinks he's the man.

Regher has always been a great player and a class act...if you can't co-exist with him you have issues.

I can see Beauchemin and Phaneuf going at it in practice.

Agree 100% with most of this except for the fact that Bryan Murray would have wanted alot more than Phaneuf for Heatley.

only reason ian white is a plus is because he doesnt play against the other teams top 2 lines, shit id be a plus if all i saw was 3rd and 4th liners. i don't know what any of you see in any of these guys. give white 25 minutes and put him on against top lines and he would be a big minus, so dont give me this crap that white was our best Dman. and he wouldnt have 9 goals either.

give it time calgary fans you will be saying what a bunch of bums you got in this trade.

where was all this firepower last night, between the 4 guys i think they had 1 shot on goal, get used to that. all stajan did was slow iginla down.

Your excuse for why he is a plus rating is weak.

And now you base judgements on their 1st game on a new team.

Can't wait to see Giggy and Phaneuf exposed tonight.

    Kessel 50 goal guy

Keep dreaming bud....hasn't broken 30 yet but now you're tacking on 20 goals.

The guy doesn't do anything...no backchecking, doesn't block shots, etc.
