Henrik is the definition of overrated, never won shit, people think he is a top player and he clearly is not

Marty Turco fits the Henrik mold but is shittier but people seem to think he is good

Gomez & Redden are both winding down their careers so I don't know how they're overrated. Both were good in their primes.

I haven't read all the threads and thus the other selections but Calgary's Jerome Iginla gets my vote as the league's most overrated player.

Brain Rolston.  5 million a year and he is always the worst playeron the ice. Pure garbage.

This would apply if asked who is overpaid but it does apply to being overatted. Just cause new jersey managmenet gives out dumb contracts doesn't make a player overated. Maybe he was overated by the devils? I'm sure in a ratings system you would not find him in the top 100 in skill.

I was thinking the same thing aswell, just because a player signs a contract for a lot of money people automatically assume he should play at a higher level. and if he has an off year everybody claims bust or overrated. Unfortunately folks this is not a video game and when players light it up and score a crap load of points, every team, coach and player takes notice and tries to stop them. Maybe instead of pointing fingers at these players you should look at the morons who sign these guys to these rediculous contracts.

Rolston was a 30+ goal guy prior to coming to the Devils.  Brought alot of speed to the table.  Was definitely a top 50 offensive guy prior to rejoining the Devils.

And salary is a reflection of how talented a player is....he didn't get 5 mil out of nowhere.

Rolston was a 30 goal scorer on a team with little to no offensive players. So on a team where you might have more than 3 or 4 guys putting the pucks in the net. hes more like a 20 goal scorer. I would love to see the ranking where it shows him as a top 50 offensive guy, maybe in his first stint with new jersey he could be considered that, but nowadays hes lucky to crack the top 100 in his own conference.

Also salary is not just a reflection of his talent, I'm sure anyone with half a brain could figure out that salaries are based on supply and demand.

7 straight seasons in Boston and Minnesota went 19, 31, 27, 19, 34, 31, 31.  Far better production.

The whole well he played on a weak team argument doesn't fly.

And besides, those teams weren't that weak....they were defensive minded.

where he was picked when he was drafted has nothing to do with his current status. If i'm not mistaken i said that he played on teams with little to no offense and than you tell me that he played on defensive-minded teams. Thanks i believe thats what i just said. Amazing that more people don't agree with drury being overrated.  People seem to believe that drury has been an amazingly clutch player, when in fact his playoff numbers are nothing to write home about (88 points in 130).  Also, this guy has NEVER on his career reached 70 points, that is unbelieveable, considering his 33.  His best years were his first 4 when he plaved for the avs, who had sakic, forsberg, foote, blake, bourque, tanguay, so no drury was not a big part of that team winning.  He makes over 6 mil a year.  Drury has to be a top candidate hands down

Not sure how people can say Kessel is over-rated. Last year at 21 he scored 36 goals in 70 gms. That was the 11th highest total in the league and in goals per game he was top 7. Thats pretty amazing.

Henrik Lundqvist plays for a garbage team and frankly, if not for him, they`d be a bottom dweller. He almost single-handedly got them in the playoffs the last two years.

Brad Richards is a Conn Smythe winner, is top 5 in scoring this year and the only time his scoring suffered was when he was injured. People should look at the circumstances when production drops, sometimes it is injury. PPG is much more important than just Points.

Sidney Crosby? come on.

Brian Campbell is the best example I`ve seen listed in this forum so far. He, like Jason Blake, was lucky enough to have by far his best year in a contract year. And in both cases, Blake and Campbell, the contract year was not only their best but a huge abberation. I put Campbell higher just because his contract is so much bigger than Blake`s.

FYI, Phaneuf has one of the worst giveaway/takeaway ratios in the league over last couple of seasons. 3:1

And his blocked shots totals are embarrassing to say the least.  Even Dan Boyle blocks more shots than him.

 

I dont think Rolston is as bad you make him out to be

I live 20 minutes from Detroit so I watch every game. It doesn't matter if you have good stick handling it matters if you can put the puck in the net or setup other players
