Why handicappers have such a rough time breaking fifty percent.

I have had Direct TV for the last 12 years or so and I watch easily 9+ hours of football every sunday and every monday/thursday night game if it warrants me watching.

That being said, that doesnt neccesarily make me a good handicapper, just someone who knows a lot about football.

You didn't really NEED to post all that info.

In short, you could have said.

Squares are people who use public info and sharps are people who dig for information.

I think I consider myself half sharp / half square.

Sometimes I get sucked into bets where I use public info that sometimes win, but sometimes lose.

However I think I am part sharp because I have a knack for identifying good teams who are getting value before the public and linemakers do. (i.e. Riding Tebow the last 5 weeks and getting paid where there was a lot of value)

I just referenced a write up I posted... I only posted incontestable information to help make people think/improve and you come-a-hating.... step outside yourself... I don't claim to be the world's best communicator (or W.B. anything actually)... but if someone is investing their money weekly, and not even being willing to pay the nominal amount needed to be able to pick and choose which games they are studying and leaving that to the networks decision...that is an issue by my view anyway...peace

I lost my ass last year in this business, bad advice and bad money management. My fault. KS helped me get a few bucks back and I hope to continue with him when I my bank roll is back. KS, got to agree with ya on this one. 99% of the people on here (whether they admit or not) are squares including myself. Some have actual lives, families, jobs, hobbies, ect. ect. that will keep them from putting forth the effort you mention. Most mean well and post their picks based on their knowledge of the game not on the handicapping you speak of. I guess its alot like a sports bar in here where everyone has an opinion based on their belief they know a certain team better than the next guy and that is why this team will win of lose. Some will pull stats out of their ass, others have trends that never lose and thats what this site is all about. Hopefully you can use some of that info to form your reasoning on betting a team but non of that is actual handicapping. Its all innocent and fun but some feel just because they played the game in high school or college that their opinions have more weight to it. They hate to be proven wrong on a pick and most of that is due to the fact they never really handicapped the game the way you brought up. I myself wager on a team i feel i know best and the division their in. A handicapper i am not just a gambler who wins some and loses some. GL in the future KS and to those who admit their just like me. A wanna be handicapper.

Excellent point, great insight, realism @ it's finest, and on target.  If people picked ONE game to play for a week b/c they don't have the time to dedicate to 15 games... they could pull it off.  Not many like--or want to be like myself (I have a dog 'Willie' that is my nearly sole companion... no woman will put up with my time in capping, family--barely have time to call them.)  'normal' people want/need human companionship....me? means little to nothing...as long as I have Willie lol.......... peace to you my friend, and BoL
