Noone can guarantee a win except Joe Namath. But they CAN guarantee a loss. Lines are made and ppl gamble and if somoen inside the circle of the NFL decides to gamble, they can manipulte things to win their bets.
As for scripted. Well...if you look at certain instances such as 911 or Hurricane Katrina, it was a "feel good story" right? Last yr's Harbaugh vs Harbaugh. Rematch of ELI vs Brady. I guess the instance could feel that way. But imo, theres not enough there to make that prediction. If the Saints were to play Denver in this yrs SB, would it be scripted as a Brees vs Manning SB again? It's too hard to say. Sometimes I do feel feel there's instances where scripts are involved to make the game much more exciting. But to sit here and say before the season ever starts that team A will face team B in a SB is a little hard ot believe. I think perhaps it could be a story that progresses. But I know one thing: that its a billion dollar industry and its finding ways to make the most profit yr in and yr out...
How can you have a story without a script? I agree with most of what you say... Football is more than just football..

Lol, at this very informative thread. I was just thinking when is this waste of Internet space gonna end. What is sad is that's there's tons of young kids who are new to the game, and they peruse Covers to learn and to get an edge when betting their allowance money......and stupid s*it like this they have to see and corrupt them.

It's all about the "dinero" mi amigo....And the Dallas game is a BIGGIE this week....No doubt heaviest watched all weekend....Denver is due for a little turnaround, as the "cro-magnon man" with that huge forehead has been known in these situations to "tank" a bit....So, with Jacksonville next on deck, AT DENVER, they could just say ==="ho hum" this week....But have Manning still get his stats...I do know this,...if they cover the next two weeks, into the crapper big time the following week....THAT is what I'm waiting for....But do agree there's a big possibility this week, esp. AT Dallas,, ,
N.E., traditionally, when then do dive into the tank, usually it's a non conf. foe, and it comes as a big surprise, mostly away from Foxboro....This fits that bill, and the line is such that many would dive into the Patriots....

For someone, GLYDE, THE BAD RIDE,, who supposedly claims to know quite a bit about football, you obviously pass piss poor in reading comprehension and understanding....I would like to know "where" I used the word "OVERLOOK??"....My inference(you might have to look up some of the vocabulary and terminology that I use!)to the Dallas game was simply that the "ho-hum" meant that they knew they could crush Jacksonville...Only someone as "pea-brained" as you would twist it that way!!..Who in the hell would be caught looking forward to Jacksonville?....Only your lunacy would conjure something like this up....And for someone who purportedly has "no interest" in this thread, you sure as hell linger around and make your ill founded, idiotic comments quite often...Hey, this thread has over 30,000 hits....Why not start your own rather than trying to bash this one?.... I think if I had power to fix an outcome (game) I would use it. Most men are corruptible and contemptible. It's just a game and that's how they see it. it isn't a battle of good vs evil deciding the fate of the planet and so on. People and players got no qualms about knowing which way the money will flow after a game.

You just scan the threads and try to bash....Actually "pencil neck," I'll be near Monmouth in a few weeks, as I have a nephew there that played 6 seasons with two different teams in the NFL....NYG AND CLEVELAND...To me there was nothing as validating as "hearing it from the horses mouth!"...Now who knows more, HIM or you....Years ago, a guy came up to us, including another team member, at the track near there..He knew both players,handed us a paper, and on it were 10 of 12 winners that day....Nah!!....NOTHINGS FIXED!!...OTRA VEZ, "VETE A LA MIERDA!"....We're all looking forward to your selections for today.....I know you gotta have 5-6 , Eh?.....Put up or shut up!
