    So does having OBJ and Hopkins going to prevent him from getting injured? Like the last 2 years?

    LJ is slow to go through his reads and progressions, too slow for this league - he's always been that way and always will.  Ravens could put OBJ, Hopkins, Tyreke Hill and Gronk out there, and it wouldn't make LJ a better passer.  When LJ feels any kind of pressure, his first instinct is to use his legs and run.  That's what he's done since he was 8 years old, and he isn't changing now.  It took NFL defenses about a season and a half to figure out LJ and the BAL offense with him under center, and once they did, he's put up average numbers.

    Well, I haven't seen the details but it looks like LJ's contract is worth more than Hurts.  At least BAL and LJ can move forward now and concentrate on 2023.

    Oh, and BTW, I've been saying for 6 weeks now that LJ needs to hire an agent.  Apparently I was wrong.  He got a huge deal without an agent.  Not sure if this means LJ is that smart or if it means BAL isn't.  Either way, I'm sure 99% of the BAL fanbase is happy with this news.  GL to the Ravens - I'll go ahead and predict another 10-7 season and WC playoff loss in 2023.

    Looks like LJ is getting $185 million guaranteed.  For BAL's sake, I hope he stays healthy.

    And it looks like Burrows is up next with the contract negotiations.  Based on what LJ and Hurts just got, what should Joey B expect to command?  In my view, Burrows is more valuable than LJ, and quite a bit more valuable at that.  Will CIN have to pony up $300 million?  Probably not.  But now the dominos have started to fall.  First Watson, then Hurts, now LJ.  Gotta figure Burrows thinks he's worth more than those guys, and he's probably right.  By 2030, we're going to be talking about billion dollar contracts for NFL QBs.

    They will pay they will have to, Burrow and Herbert are up next. They will be the next highest paid QBs and Lamar and Hurts contract will kinda be forgotten. Feels like 55 to 60 mil a year for either Herbert or Burrow.

    So in the end...Lamar got what he could have gotten 2 years ago or before beginning of last year...the guaranteed amount was always on the table for him..Its just He was never going to get the fully guaranteed amount..

    @bigred84

     Rumor was Lamar wanted more than 230 guaranteed. Who knows if that was true or not but he can spin it now and say it wasn't all real. Glad Lamar came to his senses.. that fully guaranteed was never gonna happen. This deal sounds about right where I expected for 5 years. I think the trick to making this all finally happen was Ravens giving Lamar certified playmakers that was the only way to soften his stance about wanting more money. peace_5

    True, it was way too long. Maybe got a little bit more than what Ravens were planning to give him originally but he got OBJ out of it too. Lamar did a good job negotiating on his own, but if he had an agent it would have definitely gone much smoother and quicker.

    No...He would be up for renegotiation on another contract after this season if he signed an extension in 2021...And the QB market keeps on going higher..So in reality..Lamar may have missed his 3rd contract extension...He definitely is not getting one after this based on his style of play...Josh Allen signed an extension in 2021...His next contract extension will be after this season will probably be 200+ guaranteed..Lamar is plain dumb...No contract is for 5 years..it's all 3 year Max/guaranteed money is what matters.. then an extension which helps the team out by stretching the payments and bonuses out and the player gets more money......If he played the contract game right..and did not fire his agent he could have maximized his income potential.. U see what Kirk Cousins did? He played the contract game.

    finally done.  highest paid qb, not too shabby for a "horrible" qb who's a rb that cant make reads and can't throw and needs to hire an agent.

    I dont think he was ever offered 185 mil guaranteed before. I think he's very happy about this deal. I dont believe any nonsense rumors they were all over the place.
