Just my opinion - this was a move involving a very popular player that has long term ramifications. I believe Harbaugh is trying to build a culture of accountability. Does he want to win this year? Yes, but I think he felt a message with his star running back was worth it given his young team. Only time will tell if it was the right message.
I was going to make sarcastic replies to majority of the comments here. Seems many of you are very young and/or do not know sports very much. You guys know you are talking about a B- RB right? He isn't great. Is he even good? Most of you love him cause he is the great white hope for you all. Just the same way blacks always defend black athletes, I'm neither btw, that's why I have no agenda or bias, and am smarter than most people.
People love his caveman schtick. Well kids, its a schtick. He will be out of the league in 3 years. I'm sure he's not a bad guy, nothing personal, actually I like him cause I saw his dog food commercial, lol, but we talking business here, Professional NFL Football. He isn't even half the RB Zeke Elliot was, who also was a character. Maybe a bad example cause Zeke had bad off the field issues, illegal ones, but the point is.... You have to be good to act like that. A la Marshawn Lynch.
Cam had 1 fumble in 8 games last year. He has 4 in 5 games this year. Helloo, helloo Junior?? Anyone there?? LoL. Maybe it's not about this last fumble. But all his fumbles this year. Now consider his "act". Consider Harbaugh's personality. He is new here, etc. Everything OWO said. Seriously had to get through 20 unintelligent posts until some common sense. Maybe Cam's game doesn't work with Harbaughs style of offense, so he isn't too high on him to begin with. But it was def. sending a message to him. And you clowns think even if Cam was in the game, they would have won? lol. Some of you saying, " well he didn't do this to Henry" Yea, let's compare Cam to Derrick Henry ... Some of you are cute. I love this site.

I don't think Cam is great, but he is the best back in that backfield. When the other 3 guys get less than 2.5 ypc vs the 32 ranked run D, you might have a problem in that room.

No one said he was Walter Payton but to keep a player on the bench that could help you win a very winnable game falls into the not so smart ( unlike you being super smart and all) category.

After reading some articles and their many attached comment sections, Harbaugh has managed to alienate a lot of the NY Giants' fanbase as well by not directly owning up to the punishment of Skat. He candycoated the punishment and that ticked off many of their fans who would appreciate simply for him to say: "l will give him no touches until he gets his head out of his a$$." New Yorkers are more animal than vegetable.

It was a bonehead move by Harbaugh. Had I known he was going to do that I never would've taken the Giants last week. James Cook also fumbled in the Bills Monday night win over the Rams. Did HE get "punished"?
