I've read some of the postings on this thread. Some are filled with some good advice. Some aren't. JMO. Here is how I approach the NFL season year in and year out for what it's worth.

I start out with 50 units. Whatever my bankroll is, divide it into 50 units. Betting in units is crucial. Let me back up for a second. As far as what your goals are this year, they should be to make some money, and have fun doing it. That should be your goal. Now that we have that out of the way, we're moving on. In your case, if you have $2350 your units would be $47. I usually put one unit up per game, but it depends on the game. My usual Sunday is putting up a unit on 3 or 4 games and if I feel strongly about a couple others, I'll put 2 or 3 units up on each of those. This is where you have to be careful. If you put a total of six units up on two games and lose them both, you're down six units right there. Since you're starting out, I recommend you stick to single unit bets.

Never bet too many games. Anywhere from 3 to 7 is good. Dont bet just to have action on a game. And dont ever chase. There's always next week. If you're drinking

stay away from the computer. You'll just place a stupid bet that you'll later regret. Stay away from parlays and teasers. I play them from time to time, but I usually lose. They're fun, but they wont get you anywhere. However, I do love moneyline parlays. Let's say I feel really good about NE, Phi, Pit, and SD winning outright (SU). I may put 1/4 or 1/2 unit on that and it might pay +175 or +225 or something. All they have to do is win. I've done well with those, and you're risking little. There's nothing wrong with playing one of those every week so long as you're not putting up multiple units on them.

Be careful about who you tail on this site. If you spend enough time on it, you'll learn who to listen to and who to ignore. Have all of your bets placed by Sunday at noon and try not to deviate from your plan. Once you have them all in place, leave it alone. Ride it out. Make sure to differentiate fact from fiction. If you have a co-worker that says something like,"Dont bet the Bears... they suck", he may not know his ass from a hole in the ground. If I've learned one thing it's this: Talking to the people I know usually dont have a clue, and it's hilarious because they think they know everything. This is in general of course. I do know a few that do have "football smarts". I listen to them. I tune everyone else out.

If you're watching a pregame show and all four "expert analysts" pick the same team, bet the other to cover. I obviously dont have any hard data to back this up, but it always seems like that's the way it works out. But of course, dont go big just based on that. That's a no brainer. Betting is fun, but it's the ultimate when you can turn $2,000 into $4,000 or even more in just a football season. The most difficult thing, in my opinion, is having the discipline. Putting a plan in place is hard enough. Following it to a tee is yet another. Yet these two things are key if you want to make any money. And having a plan involves, among other things, establishing units and sticking to them. You'll probably lose everything this year, and I say that only because you're a beginner. I'm not being cocky. That's just the way it is. In any case I wish you the best of luck, and I'm looking forward to the season and sharing thoughts and info.

I almost forgot to mention. Dont bet on Cleveland and Seattle. Ever. You'll save yourself alot of headaches. Those two teams have cost me so much fucking money, I haven't bet them for the last two years I think. And I wont this year.

ok, I'm not reading though all the post. I Just Want To Say, 1st. $50.00 per game good, with 2k Bank Roll, is good, conservitive but good. 2nd. I'd say 4 games, is a bit to much (and to early to pick games days befor the game) 1 or 2 games per day, much Better. Now Picking the games. No Offence to these boards, but IF your going to get your plays from forums & other Gamblers/Cappers, you will more then llikly be on Big Public Games, and you know what that means, Now,Need to have a "system" that allows you to be with the house on 90% of your plays, Follow Smart$, Steam moves etc... Anyway,Click On My Avitar drop me an email, and I'll forward you some stuff, that will amaze you... Not "Capping" Stuff, I'm not a "Tout" and I don't need your money. I just like to help, probably because you came across here honest, and stright, with your "BR", however, I would be skepical lissening to gamblers, must remember only about 10% (at Best)of all cappers make Net Profits, every month/week, betting sports, this you may already know, thats why our system, takes their Action. Wait, I did read one post the one rite above me, see thats the kind of advice, i'm talking about, that will Kill anyones Bankroll, and everythng else thats good... Why, see thats a common Loser "Gamblers" mistake, "Those Teams Kill Me" As If, Need to take all the personal stuff out, In Fact just last monday, Preseason Monday Nite Fb, Had Seattle +6 Good Play, it Won, Thats why, never try to get cought up in all that gamblers losing talk, as my old southern friend says, Thats "Stinking Thinking" play the games/teams, that fall into system, and I Don't Care What Anyone Says, About the team, & Yes Their mostly Big Bad Dogs, that the public Hates! Also, Love Preseason, lots of $being made, in fact thats why books set much lower limmits, However, One Must Really Know What They Are Doing.... BOL

Unfortunately, unless you have one of those voice muffler things and face blurring device - I can never come out of my cave in central afghanistan to address anything gambling related. There are people who would like to silence my genius by any means necessary, and I cant expose myself to that threat - or even public humiliation which I am sure would follow a radio appearance where my severe stuttering and lisp would render my genius useless.

Keep up the good work though, and keep inspiring those squares to keep losing money. Somebody has to - it makes those of us who win jobs a lot easier.

Simple solution to that. Dress up in a Rockies uniform, and introduce yourself as Paul.....
