Lebron should have tipped a minimum of 2 hundi, especially since he kept everyone out until 4AM, hopefully he has learned from this experience, it sure has cost him a lot of BAD PR!!!!!!!

With all do respect to everyone on here who says this has NOTHING to do with race, i counter that it almost SOLELY has to do with race.

White people (i am one) are very dismissive of slavery. Why? Because its an severe inhumane embarrassment. Blacks, Mexicans and Asians, throughout american history, were used as SLAVES. This is fact. Slavery was abolished in the 1860's. Thats only 140+ years ago. After that Blacks, were deemed SEPARATE BUT EQUAL until the 1950's. Thats only 50+ years ago!

So for the overwhelming majority of WORLD history and a significant majority of AMERICAN history, blacks were SLAVES and/or, not allowed the same rights and access to resourses as whites based ONLY on their SKIN COLOR (because if you believe all men were created equal, that would be the only determinant).

Now in 2008, the tables have turned. The Black man is now in a much more powerful position in the world of sports. No matter how you cut it, white males, because of physiological differences, will NEVER, ON AVERAGE, jump as high or run as fast as black males (its very taboo to say that by the way so i apologize if i offend).

Furthermore, in a capitialist society, free markets will rule the day and attain the best qualified individuals for their institutions UNLESS RACISM prevails. Well racism prevailed in basketball until 1950 when Chuck Cooper was drafted by the Celtics and Earl Lloyd became the first black to play for washington on 10/31/1950.

Today, it is clear, no one in their right mind would choose David Lee at center over Dwight Howard. Lebron, being the freak of nature that he is, reaps the benefits of his physical nature with speed and height and superior motor skills that no white person for the next fifty years (make that, 250 years) will possess at his position.

He now, goes into a steakhouse, and has WHITE people WAIT ON HIM! Yes this is SERVITUDE. These people are essentially partaking in voluntary servitude at NO PAY (if you want to count the $3 an hour they make outside of tips go ahead, i won't). So Lebron, a black man, has white people PREPARE HIS FOOD at essentially no cost (outside of paying for the food itself) to the server UNTIL the tip needs to paid.

See the role reversal here? White people, now are serving the same people who had great grandfathers who were SLAVES to whites! The same people  who had grandmothers drinkining out of "COLORED" water fountains. The same people, who had parents who were denied access to schools to LEARN READ AND WRITE JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE BLACK! 

So what does he do? HE STIFFS EM. HE WILL MAKE THESE SERVERS SUFFER THE SINS OF THEIR FATHERS!!!

Folks, this is purely a racial issue. An issue that makes WHITES VERY VERY UNCOMFORTABLE! But i have no problem saying it.

Lebron, may do this all unconciously, just as you unconciously try to keep your balance when you slip on an unseen icepatch. Yes, WE ALL MAKE SOME decisions based on our genetic histories that have been programmed into our DNA structures.

Lebron, if you left a $10 tip for these servers, you were an

 ASS for doing so. BUT i do see historical justification for it if you were making a social statement.

Ultimately, this does NOT absolve you from leaving such a tip. Therefore, you remain an ASS. Because the race issue in America needs to be dealt with in different ways than these slights. In fact, this will result in race relations being way worse off. Boston, the first team that drafted a black player and integrating the league will haunt you TONIGHT. A league  that has made you a VERY VERY VERY wealthy man. Celts tonight for me. Yes, Lebron, im goin for the Desegregating Boston Celts tonight and don't you forget it if your readin this chump!

Actually what happened was somebody whispered in his ear... "leave 10%",  so he left one of them 10% bills.

As i said, white people are very ashamed of their historical enslaving past and are VERY quick to dismiss it. LonetreeJJ is the first on the list. More to follow!

By the way, i didnt say he didn't CONCIOUSLY leave a proper tip because his grandfather was a slave (i.e. Lebron says out loud "Im not leaving a tip for these white fools because they enslaved my grandfather). He most likely, unconciously decided to stiff these individuals because they were white and because he and his ancestors have run a losing race in attaining and retaining resources. Therefore, even though he is a MILLIONAIRE and wants to be a BILLIONAIRE (and might be someday), even giving the appropriate $160 tip would be allocating some, no matter how little, of his resources to whites. Resources his whole family tree never had. He primarily does this unconciously. I have to reaffirm that point.

That is 100% correct IMO. Black servers would have been allocated a higher tip (albeit unciously) because they are of the same ethnicity. It is to Lebron's advantage to allocate his abundant resources, if he chooses to do so, to the very race he is attempting to enhance.

On the flip side, he could theoretically stiff black servers as well. It all depends on where his social network begins and ends. His social network may begin and end with HIMSELF (i.e. attain as much wealth as possible for me and my immediate family and close friends and F' everyone else). Any human being has the potential to do that.

Barring that possibility Lebron would most likely realize the struggles of blacks and the insitutionalized racism they suffer in modern day society and leave a MUCH better tip (or OVERtip).

Don't be ashamed to say its a race issue. This is the stigma we as whites have been pre-programmed with. No one sees Blacks shying away from the race issue (i.e.Reverand Wright).

We as whites, blacks, hispanics, asians, indians, etc. need to put all our cards on the table and speak frankly about race issues in America. Until that comes, the 'muted' white America will remain recially 'dis'harmonious if they keep sweeping the obvious under the rug while saying "did you see that thug walking by us" when you are inside your home lined by that white picket fence. 

50 years removed from Separate But Equal and all of a sudden this country has dealt appropriately with the race issue? Hell no.

White Americans, can air their grievances (i.e. gangs, ghettos, crime and drugs for example) but we also must be free to admit mistakes and/or abominations brought upon humanity (i.e. slavery, institutionalized racism, a police force that is primarily built on racial profiling - see the Sean Bell). Anyone remember the Amadou Diallo case. This man was shot 41 times and once IN THE SOLE OF HIS FOOT, when cops mistook his WALLET for a GUN. These are things white America will have to own up to as well.

Anyhow, if Lebron Jame's tip brings an open forum about race in America, all the better. But it MUST and SHOULD be spoken about FROM BOTH SIDES and this thread gaining posts and views is a GOOD thing.

His country DID sell slaves but America, and the rest of the world also purchased them like they were cattle (literally putting chains on their neck and feet). Furthermore, after they were purchased, they were subject to some of the most inhumane conditions that not even a swine would want to endure. The owner of the XO Prime Steaks, where the whole stingy scene went down, has issued the following statement:

For the record, XO would like to clear up a misunderstanding resulting from a story that appeared in the Cleveland Scene on May 7th...Upon completion of his meal, Mr. James paid his bill with a credit card. Our waiter mistakenly read the receipt, inferring that Mr. James had left him only a $10 tip. To clear up the misunderstanding, Mr. James arranged for an appropriate tip to be delivered to the restaurant for the waiter.
