The reason why LA beats SA this year and the only reason is b/c LA has home court advantage it's that simple. SA is a better team overall but LA worked harder during the reg season to capture HCA. Congrats Laker fans but w/out Kobe Luke and the boys would be learning how to surf about now.

My opinion is that MJ played in a more difficult era and excelled in it in a way Kobe can never match. Kobe is my favorite player currently in the game, but I don't think he's close the level that MJ was on. I think people are starting to forget just how magical MJ was out on the court and although Kobe has magical moments, I really don't think he, or anyone else is on the same level as Jordan was. Jordan was a once in a lifetime kind of player, and I'm not sure he can ever be matched.

Something to think about when talking about when talking about Kobe is that he has yet to win a championship with a team that he was the best player on. I think we can all mostly agree that Shaq was the best player on those LA dynasty teams, and obviously Kobe is a much better player now. If they can win the title this year he'll go up a few spots on the all time list, but as of this moment I think he's still quite a ways behind MJ.

That's my opinion at least.

no no ur wrong there it took Jordan and phil jackson 2 years to win the championship the 5 years before that doug collins was coaching. And ur wrong agian it took kobe jackson and SHAQ one year to win a championship, and the only reason they won when jackson came in was cos of shaq, kobe would have no rings if it wasnt for shaq, and if lakers win agian this year, its cos of gasol the lakers wouldnt have made it out of the first round if it wasnt for gasol

In the 80's, most of the shooting guards that Jordan played against were easily 6''2 to 6''4; and of course Kobe can shoot over shorter players like that with ease, yet he also plays against guys that are 6''5 to 6''9, even taller.  Definitely, MJ may be and I emphasize "may be" a little more efficient and consistent than Kobe, but overall, Kobe's a better shooter, has better range, better ball-handler (hands down), better scorer and has killer instinct. And who would know better than Phil Jackson when a couple of years ago when asked who was the best basketball player, he said, "Kobe is better than Michael with the basketball."  Well, Kobe's improved greatly since 2006, so I could only imagine what PJ's opinion would be now.

 

I just think that back in the 80s, basketball sorta went into a recession, and then there was Jordan who revived the game of basketball and put it back on the map with endorsements, etc. It was like he could do no wrong.  Media made him out to be a GOD with genious marketing.  And so when people think of MJ now, they get all caught up in the nostalgia of him and what he did for the game. Also, MJ was a people person which made him a hell of a lot more appealing to people; Kobe has not been a people person and unfortunately, he's judged on that too.  Not undermining MJ's awesome game and skill set (for his era), but in terms of skill and ability, you gotta go with Kobe considering the tougher type of basketball presently. 

Jordan played in a era where it was more competitve str8 up the 80s and  def 90s was alot more talented then todays era not showboat wise but basketball fundametnly, i mean take a look at the east now? absolute joke, if todays piston and celts played in jordans era theyd be toast, they would be a team like indiana miami back in the day and maybe  not even on that level, and to say jordan couldnt keep up with todays era look at him when he made his second come back at age 38 he still lit up the floor avergaing 20 points a game imagine if he was 4 years younger? he wouldve been the best player in todays era too,

You have got to be kidding me with this Kobe comparison. Kobe is great dont get me wrong, but Jordan was pure excellence. Michael Jordan is basketball.

How about this scenario Jackson quits the Bulls when MJ left to play baseball for 2 yrs and goes to LA earlier than he did. That changes history and maybe no 3 Bull championships when MJ returns 95-98
