agree, people dont understand. MJ was great in his era and Kobe is great in his. and if you compare players from MJ's era and now, theres way more bigger, better talented players now. How do you think Boston won 8 championships in a row? but nevertheless, their both great players.
LOL. Kobe played with Jordan. This isn't like comparing Russel's era to now, it's different. Jordan played within the last decade, and played with some of the best ever including Hakeem, Magic, and Bird, Robinson, etc.
Kobe is not even the second best player of all time, let alone better than Jordan.

Jordan vs. Kobe is not black and white like most of you are making it. We should all know that the game of basketball is always evolving, so comparing players from different time periods objectively is always difficult. No matter how small a gap the time period is. They made dunking illegal then legalized it. Players in the 90s perfected the jump stop. Many of today's players now have a "Euro-step." Now there is a rule where players have a limited amount of time they can back players down. Illegal defense was eliminated, Defensive 3 seconds was added, Halfcourt time changed from 10 to 8, these 3 changes were made in 2001-2002.
Fuloser u are wrong to say that jordan and kobe played in the same era. Its not even close to the same era. When Kobe became a relevant player Jordan was not. Jordan hasnt been relevant in about 8 or 9 years.
I'm not sure who is better but I know one thing for sure. Jordan in his prime could not have done any better than Kobe has with the same terrible supporting Laker casts.
Does anyone here actually remember the Michael Jordan teams he won his rings with? Scottie Pippen is on the all-time 50 best players list, a 7 time All-NBA player, 10 time All-NBA defensive team, 7 All-Star selections and an original Dream Team selection. If i stopped right there that should be enough to silence the critics who say Kobe can't win without a big man because I could counter that Jordan couldn't win without Pippen. So lets call Kobe+ Bigman= Jordan + Pippen.
Too bad I can't stop there. Jordan had arguably the leagues best 3- point shooter in B.J. Armstrong for the Bulls first 3-peat. Did I mention that he was an all-star one of those years along with Horace Grant. A defensive minded Grant was a 4 time All-NBA defensive player. He still averaged 14pts and 10 rbs during the first 3-peat. Seems like a pretty amazing 4 players there.
The second 3-peat saw many changes in the lineups. There was very little dropoff in the caliber of player that came in. Steve "im so money from 3" Kerr replaced Armstrong. Grant left and Rodman was brought in. They also added Ron Harper and Toni Kukoc.
I don't even think that there could be an argument made that Kobe Bryant has had any team that is close to either of these 2 sets of teams that Jordan played with.
Jordan has the better shooting %. Kobe has had to do more with much less. I believe that Kobe v. Jordan is close with the edge going to Jordan.
If Kobe wins this year with this team and 1 more the rest of his career, Kobe becomes the greatest.
No matter what happens this is a close matchup.

MJ is arguably the best player that ever played the game . Kobe Doesn't have the mentality That Jordan or Larry Bird/MaJic Johnson .I would say that those three players are better than Kobe .
These players today wouldn't make a pimple on those guys ass comparetively speaking !

Drstatt, Kobe was an all-nba player, as was Jordan, with both playing in the All-star game and being in the top 20 efficiency wise, even with Jordan on the Wizards. He dropped 51 points, at 40 years old, in the modern era, even though most of his athleticism had faded.
Jordan is better than Kobe. It is black and white, if you don't think so, you clearly are very young and didn't watch Michael Jordan play.
He is the best defensive guard; leading in blocks all time, and 2nd in steals. He was a defensive player of the year over players like Olajuwon, Barkley, Rodman, etc..
He beats Kobe in almost every facet of the game. Keep dreaming.

Let's get this topic back going....Micheal Jordan would never let a 24 point lead get away from him or his team in a must win game in the NBA Finals. CARE TO DIFFER? Lol, all you backing Kobe are complete morons and will remain that way!

MJ is the greatest ever, ever, ever, ever. Nobody even close, not now nor in the future. MJ developed into the TOTAL packge. offensively, defensively, mental toughness, leadership supreme and sheer will to win never say die mentality that nobody can ever come close to.

Before you go bashing Kobe, MJ didnt have a 22 year kid playing huge minutes for him. He had a #2 who is one of the 50 greatest players EVER who by the way was one of the best on the ball/help defender EVER. Also MJ played with a big man who were capable of playing solid defense unlike Gasol. And MJ played with reliable Power Forwards (Horace Grant was one of the best PF's of the early-mid 90s). Also there was No Zone defense in the 90s, meaning you couldnt play an "area near a defender". So if Jordan went by you he was at the rim....Anyway Jordan couldnt do anything about that melt down. The Lakers as a team CHOKED.
