You are kidding right? You might have lost all credability on that one.
Tell me something. What age are you and who is your favorite team?
Your a fool if you think that Jordan wouldn't get shit on in a game of schoolyard one-on-one. I don't have a favorite team. I'm 26.
In a hypothetical game of one-on-one to 100, 1's and 2's, Kobe wins with a score of about 100-8x at worst. Kobe is faster and stronger. Much better off the dribble - the reason why he would destroy Jordan.

Spoken like a complete 26 year older right there. You're too young to even know Jordan son, now move along.

Dude you are crazy. So when jordan was in his prime you were what, 13, 14 years old? I am sure in between picking your nose and jerking off to national geographic magazines you were studying Jordans game?
I bet less than 3 people on covers would agree with you.

Dude are you serious, Kobe is nowhere near as clutch as Jordan. I watched all the Bulls playoff games in their glory years, and Jordan never had a bad 2pt first half like Kobe did in Game 1 a couple days ago. Also to further back the point, I can't count on my hands how many game winning shots Kobe Bryant has made. While Michael Jordan has made like 40 game winners and a ton in the playoffs that I can remember. Not even a comparison here in terms of overall greatness.

Statistically Kobe is better than Jordan. Kobe would smash Jordan one-on-one. Kobe is more gifted and the better athlete. However, does that really make him better? No. If you take in Jordan's clutch and leadership I would have to give him an edge although Kobe Game 1 sure narrowed the gap. Jordan also was much better on D.
Jordan changed basketball, Kobe didn't. There would be no Kobe if there wasn't an MJ first. So does that make Michael better? No. Michael had more of an impact on basketball history, but Kobe is far and away more talented. MJ was and always will be the most important basketball player in history. I really don't know why people debate this because it depends our your definition of "better."
Well for me being better is not only athelticly but creativity and reinventing the game makes a player better then the next person and being a pioneer, and ur correct no jordan means kobe wouldnt be the same player he is today, if kobe came up with his own game for others to follow then he may be in the same level as jordan, but kobe hasnt as he obviously burrowed all of jordans moves and thats what ill always rmeber him as and alot of other people will rmeebr him as the guy who tried to be like jordan..

Spoken like a true mid-lifer that refuses to acknowledge the evolution of the modern athlete. I knew that this would come as soon as I sent the post. When do you think that a person pays the most attention to sports? In their teenage years. Yes, I was 15 watching the 19995-1996 Bulls. Then I was 17,18,19,20... etc watching the Bulls every other day on ESPN classic. Too young to know about Jordan, stop it. Keep being all nostalgic and thinking that Jordan is a better scorer than Kobe. It proves your ignorance. You probably think that Larry Bird would still be an all-star, instead of a NBA D-Leaguer at best. He would never get a shot off today. That doesn't mean that he isn't the best pure shooter of all time, but he couldn't create a jumper in today's game if his life depended on it.
Let me ask you this.... do you really think that Bonds isn't the best hitter of all time?

Worst post ever. I didn't realize you were in that hotel room to know what happened. One can only hope idiots like you are never placed on a jury.
In terms of this argument, lots of interesting points, but you can't really compare the two. Different eras entirely. The league is much more athletic in 2008 than it was in the late 80's/early 90's. I think you put Kobe in Jordan's era, he would have been as equally dominant as Jordan. Put Jordan in Kobe's era, with Luc Longley/Bill Cartwright/Wellington he would not have had his 6 rings. Put him with Shaq, and he would have won just as many rings as Kobe.
I've been a Kobe fan since his high school days, but if my team is down 1 with 8 seconds left, I'm picking Jordan. However, if my team is down 10 with 2 minutes left, I'm going Kobe. I don't think you could go wrong with either one of them in pretty much any situation though.

Did you read my first post? I gave Jordan all the credit in the world for being clutch, better leader, etc. I never said Kobe was "better."
Another thing, I don't remember watching Jordan play but I remember walking to the local mall every day just to look at the Air Jordan VI's with the holes in the tongue. Wasn't that right around the time he won his first championship and was on SNL for the first time?

People pay the most attention to sports when they have serious money on a game, at 15 you have squat. Wisdom comes with age and experience, which is why you don't see a 15 year older analyzing, reporting, or announcing sporting events. 15 year olders are busy trying to get box, not breaking down Jordan's game.

I dont think this thread would exist if the Lakers didn't have Pau Gasol. Cuz the Lakers would have never made the playoffs and Kobe would'nt have gotten the MVP. IMO i dont think Kobe would've gotten the MVP without Gasol. Cuz it came down to whoever had the best record in the west, and the Lakers would not have been anywhere near the top. They were 28-16 and had lost 5 of 8 after Bynum went down and before Gasol came. MJ worked with what he had, Kobe can't seem to do that. The Bulls did not have very good players besides MJ and Pippen. I'm a Lakers fan and a Kobe fan but Kobe is no Michael Jordan.

kobe needed shaq and now gasol, bulls needed mj. MJ crushed hall of famers during his time, kobe cannot be compared with the greatness
I've already stated my position on this earlier in the thread, but...
Did MJ not need Pippen and Grant/Rodman??? Did MJ not have fantastic role players like Paxson/Kerr, Longley, Armstrong, etc.? Not great players by any means, but, they were perfect for the system and they knew their roles. When people talk about MJ winning titles by himself I wonder if they ever actually watched any games. No single player in the NBA has EVER won a team a title. It is a team game which requires more than just a single player.

hello i really like kobe obviously but he's not better than jordan
right now the league is set up for a high scoring game
not being able to play zone int he paint, hand checks, weak calls is making it easier to score....
i would have to say kobe is better shooter than jordan was and maybe a better scorer but jordan was a better defender and played in a time where you could touch the offensive player and not get called a foul
yes kobe scored 81 pts but how many of those pts were on free throws?

Kobe made 28 shots out of 66 including making 7 of 13 3-pointers. That's almost 61%. Free throws made were 18 out of 20 that night.
I support the argument that Kobe IS better than MJ with the basketball as Phil Jackson actually stated a couple of years ago, but not solely based on the 81-point game that he had.

Jordan have the edge right now, but when Kobe gets a few more rings by the time he is done, then we can all agree.. The reason Kobe shooting % is lower than Jordan is simply the fact that Kobe takes a lot more 3 pts shoots than Jordan..

It was Michael Jordan as a whole that made him great. It wasn't only the way he played the game but the way he conducted himself off the court also. He was an all round champion at heart wich made him a great player & innovator. Say what you will about any other player right now but you can't match that.
I wouldnt use to off court statement, Jordan did Gamble and cheated on his wife. But that being said There is only 1 Jordan......
