    greengiants 26-35 -975$

    COL Rockies ML +123

Don't like the way McCarthy has been pitching so far this year, has the line drive to the head affected him more than we thought.Nicasio threw pretty well against arizona at coors last time out but didn't get the win, I think he gets one tonight.

    KCsFinest829 30-35-1 -421$

So close to the 3-0 yesterday. NYY/Tor had 8 runs through 4 and couldn't put up one more.

    CLE Indians ML +148

KC just played their most important and most emotional game of the year. They went out and beat the Tigers to maintain their lead in the AL Central which is phenomenal for them. Now they go play the lowly Indians with a struggling Kazmir. I smell a let down.

    ATL Braves ML +128

Wait so I get the best team in the league as a decent sized dog? ATL might struggle a bit more dealing with a DH, but as previously stated, Detroit just played a wildly emotional game and came up short. I like the value of the best team at plus money here.

    MIL Brewers ML +135

Taking the hottest team in the league as a god in this one. 9-1 in their last 10 and Beckett has only looked good in one outing this year. Brew Crew for my late sweep of the dogs!

    natalieportman9 36-34 +243$

I grabbed these lines last night, a few of them moved for the better value again.  Trying to figure out what that means...

    ATL Braves ML +110

Edge to Atlanta lineup vs Sanchez.  Edge to Atlanta pen.  Maholm has been great all year.  I will take the Braves at +value.

    CIN Reds ML +112

Bailey was terrific first time this year vs Washington lineup.  Zimmermann is great on the mound but does struggle vs the Reds hitters.  Slight Edge to Reds' bullpen.  Reds are a great bounce back team at +value.

    MIL Brewers ML +140

First time backing the rookie.  Brewers getting just under 6 runs per game the past week.  It is also a Beckett fade.  Brewer bullpen coming into form with Henderson on the back end.

like the pick, just not sure about the reasoning..

Yes.  Looking now the splits are in Zimm's favour.  Some hitters have roughed him up though.  I saw some Reds' batters had success, combined with Bailey's good start already vs Nats , I guess I liked it. Votto 4 for 8, hanigan 6 for 11, frazier 2 for 5, Phillips 2 for 7.  It's not much but I like the Reds' after a tough loss.   I could be massively wrong also...

haha i could be massively wrong also sir, it's baseball.. as for me i'm not betting it for the reasons that i like zimmerman, but 2 good teams playing eachother, don't see a huge advantage either way, especially off a reds loss as you said.. would lean under but these offenses are highly capable and nats bats are starting to wake up.. can't make up my mind! lol good luck man! thanks for response, more just starting conversation than hating

    AshyLarryMP 35-35-4 -$514

Under 7 SD Padres - SF Giants -115

Under 7.5 SEA Mariners - LAA Angels -105

Over 8.5 MIN Twins - Tex Rangers +100

San Diego is usually where the giants bats go to die.. so i feel cashner will throw well for his 80 pitches lincecum as well making it 1-0 or 2-1 in the 5th.. and that alone the bullpens should hold it down.. kind of feel padres tonight so i'll say SD 3-1.

cj wilson throws well vs SEA, and off a loss feel CJ will be throwing well tonight, only problem is LAA can't hit anything right now themselves.. so harang throws a QS keeping the # under the total, mariners bullpen more than capable once harang exits.

over 8.5 in minnesota because feel twins bats come alive tonight got shut down yesterday but average 4.5 runs per game on year at home so far,  TEX 5-2 vs lefties this year, and are raking lately! if twins don't score much texas could get close to the # themselves.

    Musicmatt1  47-24-3  +1590$

    WAS Nationals  ML  -130

Over 7.5  DET Tigers - ATL Braves  +105

Nationals were 6-0 before dropping 6 straight home contests.  I said it earlier in the year that I believed them to win around 70% of their home games.  It is not unrealistic to believe they win 2 straight at home.  The Reds playing extra innings in multiple contests this week and I think their pen has suffered.  Bailey will have to throw a gem for the Reds to win and the pen would have to protect the lead.

When 2 good pitchers start, I feel public perception is they dominate.  Potentially they can, but I have seen few situations where that was the case.  The Tigers/Royals game went over yesterday.  The Nationals/Reds game went over yesterday even with Gio slinging a 1 hitter.  These teams have 2 of the most potent line ups in the league.  I think one of the games this series will go Under the total, but not this one.

    On another note:

This thread has not evolved the way I thought it would.  I know it is in the playoffs but I'd like to invite everyone to Mavin's NBA Thread to learn how this thread was intended to function.  I understand that calling this a "Contest" is a bit deceiving because competition is not normally associated with bettering your opponent.  If the "Contest" is an individual event; I do not think Mavin would post the combined records.

I believe our thread and group is only as strong as our weakest record, and only as successful as the Group record.  We need to come together to strengthen the whole and raise that bottom level.  I know that internally you may be thinking, "how does that help me?"  Well, how doesn't it?

I have spoken in other threads about the power of the 12 Step Program when applied to life.  I am not an alcoholic but practice the philosophy to make me a better person.  Mavin has suggested a process here.  Yes, people like MikeTizzy, Simondog, and myself will have good days and nights.  In the long run, we will become average as we did not come together.

How can we correct this?  First off, following the guidelines.  Making picks, discussing them, and learning from successes and failures.  We still have not had this big ML discussion and it is pretty clear that Simondog and I won't take the -1.5 lines; so to make everyone better, we need both sides of the story.  We need to look for trends and point them out.  In the NBA thread, TurboVTK and I are working on a 2H Total theory.  In the MLB, AshyLarry and I send private messages discussing a TT to Total theory.  Our theories have improved and we have hit some great picks.  Some of our Total picks for the contest are supported by this theory.  This is how we better ourselves.

All in all, I could care less about gambling.  I care about bettering myself and the world around me.  Mavin attracted me to the thread because I believe it is amazing how he brought the best PEOPLE together in the NBA thread.  I know these lessons will translate to life success.

we definitely need more discussion/ post game discussions as to why we made these picks, and whether or not our reasonings added up to the game outcome, what we learned from each game, what lessons can we take into tomorrow etc.. it doesn't sound as well coming from me with the way my record is right now, but i know i'm getting better everyday! and would love nothing more than to have this forum be a success AS A WHOLE.. ego's out the door, there is smart people here but we should be helping each other as opposed to trying to be the best, or making ones self record better.. you can be the best in the process, but being apart of the group is important..
i believe by helping each other we will in return help ourselves by becoming better cappers and bouncing our ideas off each other. i wholeheartedly believe that each and every one of you have something to offer that can be useful to me, beyond just following your picks and i'm sure i have some things to say as well..

matt you put it best!! NBA forum has evolved and people should check it out, it's more than just posting and a 'follow me forum'..we all truly pull for each other.. it's early in this thread and i believe we will get there.. but your post was needed matt.. bravo! (maybe we just need turbovtk to contribute to baseball, he's a talker lol)

    Hekili1  13-13  -49$

    NY Yankees -1.5 +140

Laffey will get rocked...Yankees bats to cover easily.

    ATL Braves ML +128

Malholm will outpitch Sanchez.  Also like the Braves offense better.

    WAS Nationals ML -127

Zimmerman on the mound and the offense coming around, line a little higher than I would have liked but I think they pull this out.

Just in short relating to the subject Musicmatt has raised. This thread as my other threads were created in order to make those threads a home for people with mutual interests and goals who'd like to discuss in a civilized fashion  - as we would with our friends at home, in the bars or at the sporting venues -  all the things related to designated sporting events and not only (see binary options) . Many times when the line used to move or there was a game with special interest that only people who were close to the venue could describe the atmosphere and answer some related questions - I wondered where would I get those answers. Now I have this place and I can also share all my knowledge about how and why the lines are formulated and moving, odds changing ... Through all this we pursue two main goals which are connected - to better ourselves in handicapping through our mutual experience and tactics, an the last but not the least - to create an additional source of steady monthly income for all through team work as there is no one handicapper who is always hot , but as a team learning right methods and using right techniques and tools including self control and analysis - it is all possible. And most important is believing in yourself and bettering yourselves not only here but in your everyday life knowing that what you do is not a generally condemned degenerate gambling but scientifically supported sports and trading handicapping. Not being just an angry at himself loser who is giving up the next day all he earned during the week but being in absolute control putting the money you earn to a good use

Well put fellas. I was taken back by some comments about too much chatting. I didn't let it bother me because I saw how you guys didn't stand for it. This is the only thread I post in. This is my first successful month of betting in a long time. I respect the work put into this thread and enjoy the discussions. Keep it up fellas! I feel we needed that learning curve regarding overbetting with the public. Its helped me.

    MikeTizzy  31-21-2      +1181$

no more rough days! lacked the usual work effort and i need to stick to the winning routine.

Under 7.5 TB Rays - CHI WhiteSox -110

Under 8.5 TEX Rangers - MIN Twins -110

Pens hold this down, while starts churn it out with strong matchup vs lineups.

If the "Contest" is an individual event; I do not think Mavin would post the combined records.

we definitely need more discussion/ post game discussions as to why we made these picks, and whether or not our reasonings added up to the game outcome, what we learned from each game, what lessons can we take into tomorrow etc.. it doesn't sound as well coming from me with the way my record is right now, but i know i'm getting better everyday! and would love nothing more than to have this forum be a success AS A WHOLE.. ego's out the door, there is smart people here but we should be helping each other as opposed to trying to be the best, or making ones self record better.. you can be the best in the process, but being apart of the group is important..
i believe by helping each other we will in return help ourselves by becoming better cappers and bouncing our ideas off each other. i wholeheartedly believe that each and every one of you have something to offer that can be useful to me, beyond just following your picks and i'm sure i have some things to say as well..

matt you put it best!!

I feel we needed that learning curve regarding overbetting with the public. Its helped me.
