Let's talk about today's Dodger line

Blake Snell hasn't pitched since May 9th, his only outing this year. He had surgery to remove "loose bodies" in his elbow. He's 33 years old.

His return will allow the Dodgers to have a six man starting rotation again, ever since Ohtani stopped pitching on July 3rd.

Snell threw 8 innings in single A, 2.25 era there. He threw 31.1 innings in triple A, 4.15 era there. He's got the innings in, so we should think that he's physically ready to go.

Vs the Royals lineup in his career(56 PA's):

32.1% K, 5.4% BB, .302 BA, .315 wOBA

Has anyone noticed Michael Wacha's recent form?

Last 4 games(24.2 innings):

1.82 era, 7 runs(5 earned), 17 hits, 16 K's, 7 BB. 

The caveat, 4.23 fip. The nerds say he's been lucky. Even if so, 4.23 ain't so bad. This dude is a wily vet. He is a dinosaur finesse pitcher. His game isn't to strike dudes out, it's pitch to contact. If that contact ends up in his defenses mitts, maybe it wasn't luck, but the plan?

Whatever way you want to look at all of it, this line is painfully over priced.

I agree Red, have to look at the Royals mustering some runs in Snell's first game back

Snell also is a slow starter each year. He has only pitched three innings in 2026. I could see a struggle out of the gate.

My .02...Let it be. Dodgers have good numbers vs. Wacha. KC has a poor pen. Blowout is possible. Much better match up for KC with Lynch tomorrow 1st 5.

 Pretty limited sample size for Dodgers lineup vs. Wacha except for Freeman. He does have good numbers against him. I only see this game playable for the Royals as a first 5. Their bullpen is so bad, I can't see ever trusting them full game. 

If you like dog bets, Rocks 1st 5 is a better match-up than KC is tonight on the late slate.

Well I don't expect much from the usually-injured Snell tonight.  Royals look good with Wacha.

royals team total over can be a play. I haven't looked at the line yet but considering Snell's performance and how the Dodgers are so generous with runs recently this is not a bad idea imo.

Good thread. Because of it, I put a few pennies on KC tonight. Not done yet, win or lose, good stuff Sac + others 

The last 2 games have been great. KC has been in both games till the biter end.
