And you too, as well as others, always seem to bring up Joba before you bring up Pettitte? I mean, he does have the most playoff expeirence among Yankees' starters. Everyone loves to go right out on the limb and give Joba the loss before they even think about Pettitte. And nobody even knows if Joba will be the 4th starter. If all the ALDS games are close, and Joba is dominant in the bullpen, Gaudin will pitch Game 4 and Joba will be coming out of the bullpen. The Yankees have said they will carry 10 pitchers. Cashman actually made it clear that Joba wasn't officially on the list just yet. So 5 pitchers are for sure(CC, AJ, Pettitte, Mo, and Hughes). The other 5 will most likely be Aceves, Coke, Joba, Gaudin and Marte. I feel pretty confident with that.

Well if CC doesn't match up head to head with Verlander, than the Yanks would have a tough time winning anyway. But the Yankees know how to work pitcher's counts and if CC can keep them in the game...they will win. Their offense is stronger than Detroit's offense and they beat Halladay twice this season. An don't forget...pop flys are homers at Yankee Stadium. They can beat any pitcher in the Majors, the question is will they do it twice(if neccesary). If they beat Verlander in Game 1, this series is theirs.
I throw out last season's postseason stats for CC. He pitched on 3 days rest about 5 straight games then was sent to the playoffs to face the soon to be World Champs. But like I said, anybody can change. Who knows...CC can pitch 2 shutouts and A-Rod can have 2 Homers and hit .350. Anything is possible. As for Girardi...I do believe he has 3 rings as a player, so he certainly has the experience. Sure...it's different from being a player and manager, but he's been involved in big games, as has most of the Yankees, and all the experience together overtakes the experience the Tigers have. Obviously I'm biased...but I think they can do it...I really do.
