Homefield may be overrated for some teams... But you've got to be kidding about it not making a difference for the Yanks...

Maybe on some occasions when Wild Card teams have won the WS and all but not in this case. Yankee Stadium is MADE for the Yankees' lineup. So many lefties/switch-hitters on that team to abuse the "wind-tunnel" in right field. That is strictly home field advantage for the Yankees.

How does this scenario change your mind?
Gaudin=4th starter(I mean if Joba won't beat Buchholz, then what does it matter if they have Gaudin there)
Joba=bullpen
And you put Joba as the 3 pitcher and forgot about Pettitte.
Hughes, Joba and Mariano as 7th-8th-9th? And your kiding yourself if you say Okajima or Bard, Wagner and Papelbon is better than that.

Yeah well Joba isn't even the #3 guy for the Yanks either... I wouldn't be surprised to see Andy start Game 1 of the series... You wan to talk about yearly numbers, this guy has won something like 90% of his series openers

Hey...Boston v Yankees is Bud Selig's DREAM matchup. The raitings for that would be bigger than the WS. But please don't come back with that Dice-K and V-Mart thing. Now you say the Sox have won 9 of 16 games against the Yanks this season. It sounds worse that way than the Sox being 9-7 against the Yanks this season. But the Yankees too are stronger now than they were. I mean...Posada missed 3 of the first 8 meetings and A-Rod missed 5 of those 8. Kind of a big deal there. Hughes was a starter at the time...now he's an unhitable setup man. Sabathia was garbage to start the season...now he's a candidate for the Cy Young Award. The Red Sox owned an A-Rodless Yankee team and a team where A-Rod was not himself coming off injury. With A-Rod at full strength, Hughes in the bullpen, and Sabathia pitching the way he does...the Yankees are 7-1 against the Sox. Thats the more important stat. Sure...I'm being biased here, but you can't argue the way the Yankees are playing now as opposed to earlier in the season. The Yankees are the best team in baseball during this regular season overall...that all goes down the drain in October. We'll see just what happens come playoff time...and I certainly can't wait to see what happens. It's gonna be great.
