NOPE martinez catching, youk at 3b FIELDER OR GONZALEZ at 1b. . lester halladay or felix. bucholz. maybe dice k gets traded or beckett. beckett seems like he cant wait to be back down south maybe theo can help em with that.
Martinez can't be an every day catcher for much longer. He doesn't have a strong arm...and he'll probably break down. He's a first baseman in the future...not a full time catcer. Nobody would trade for Beckett because his contract is up after next season. Nobody would take on Dice-K's contract...it's just too insane. Buchholz alone won't get you Halladay. I don't really know what the Sox have, maybe Papi could refresh my memory, but Riccardi will still be asking for the cream of the crop and the Sox, like the Red Sox, won't trade their youngsters for Halladay, especially because he'll be a free agent after next season. Why not just wait a year and give up just money for him instead of money AND top prospects?

His future position is not catcher though. I don't know where it will be, but it's been said from pleanty of people that he won't be the Yankees' future "catcher". Which doesn't leave much for him but DH. He's a big guy so outfield is not for him and first base is filled up for Tex for the long haul.
I think you may be wrong there.
He is 19 years old, he is still developing! here's what cashman said...
"Without question, he is significantly improved this year as opposed to last year," Cashman said. "To the point that we don't really doubt he's going to be a catcher in the big leagues."

I'm not sure how his arm is behind there. I know he can rake but thats about it. I don't really hear much about him(I wish I could follow him more). Anyway...by the time he's ready to come up, Matsui will be long gone...Damon will be over the hill...AJax will be the every day centerfielder of the future, they'll figure something out with the outfield...they won't have too many old guys to shift in and out of the DH spot, so if they want Mauer, I'm sure they could get him and place Montero in the DH hole at that time and have possibly the best lineup of all time.

Read this artice I don't think he will be happy as a DH. sound like he takes too much pride in his catching abilities.

Now obviously I'm getting gitty just thinking about this fact but just imagine a lineup with Jeter, Mauer, Tex and A-Rod. I get chills just thinking about it with the fact that Montero, Jackson, Cano, Gardner and Melky would be involved there. Along with that...Crawford has got to be in the radar for the Yankees too if they choose not to keep Damon for more than 1 more season and they pass up on Mauer. Whatever the situation...they're going to get somebody helpful over the next 2 seasons. (Ignore my jiberish...like I said...I'm just gitty thinking about it).

He may not be happy...but Hughes decided he'd rather go to the bullpen than start in Triple-A. Things change when you can stay in the Majors as opposed to play in the minors. You take what is given to you. If the Yankees choose to sign Mauer(I mean...Montero won't be ready by the time Mauer is a free agent, how could they pass up if given the opportunity), then I'm sure Montero wouldn't mind being a DH and part-time catcher if he's playing on the big league roster and getting closer to a big league paycheck.

I'm not saying the Yankess won't go after Mauer, I'm just saying i don't think they will overpay knowing what they have in Montero. Of Course Montero will accept any role but i believe the kid is a future catcher and from the sounds of it he wants to prove the critics wrong. I don't know how you can judge the kids catching skills when he's still a teenager and developing. He's much improved this year over last which is a good sign he's working hard to become a major league catcher.

Well thats great for him. I hope he gets better and better each season. But if the Sox get in the mix for Mauer...they will not let them get him. Thats just how I feel about it. I guess I agree with you though. If they don't have to overpay, they won't, but if they are put in that spot...they'll get what they want.

That wasn't the case when Johan Santana was on the market in which Boston was in the mix as well. But Yanks had Young prospects at that time in Joba,Hughes and Ian Kennedy so they didn't bother to over spend.

Well they "dipped their toe in the water" as they offered Melky and Hughes but that was declined(woe is the Twins). But this is a different case. The only thing that either team will have to give up is money and that usually isn't a big deal for the Yanks and Sox. At that time the Yankees will have more payroll coming off with Matsui's already being off, Pettitte(most likely), and Posada 1 year after Mauer would be signed. And soon enough with Damon and, sadly, Mo. More money would have to be dished out to Jeter but other than that, they're clear to sign more players such as Mauer, Crawford or Chapman. Mauer and Champman will both be fought over by the Sox and Yanks(among others), so only time will tell who gets who. Chapman sooner than others as he has become a free agent and is out there for the taking this offseason.
Well I'm going to bed...I'll continue conversations tomorrow...hopefully my internet will be fast enough to handle everything during the day.

The Yanks have to overcome (in no particular order): C.C. shitting the bed in his last postseason appearance two years ago; Burnett having never pitched in the postseason; Chamberlain being about as consistent as a drunk walking down the street; and, of course, the annual choke of A-Roid.

Also Hughes and how postseason pressure may get to him. But regardless...at least Joba has been there before(albeit...we know how bad that turned out to be). Joba will start off in the bullpen for the ALDS, so he'll get his feet wet there and we know he's better in the bullpen anyway. And yes...CC is a concern, Burnett is a concern(more for his inconsistency this season than his lack of postseason experience), and A-Rod is always a concern. But thats what most would call it...a "concern". I really don't have "concerns" about it. New season...new team...nobody is perfect. I think the Yanks come around, everything goes into place, and they take these series' by the horns. It wasn't hot in NY today...it wasn't cold either, but Sabathia is usually better in hot weather and it wasn't hot today and he was dominant. We'll see though...time will tell(as it's been said time and time again in this thread).

its true man this team is making mockery out of baseball, it seems like nite in nite out thur playing in anohter league from everyone else.
The postseason is a new season! Don't count your chickens just yet! Remember last year the Angels had the best regular season record in baseball and then lost to Boston who had the 4th best record in baseball.
