Absolute garbage. He should start coaching little league teams and just retire from major league baseball.
At this point, Paul Skenes is not an asset anymore for the Pirates
Something's up with his fastball. Not even close to hitting a 100 on the radar, pitch count yes by the 5th inning it seems like every outing, this year. IMO, I think the Pirates shut him down by the end of August if not in the wildcard hunt.

Agreed, It's like they have seen him before and everyone is Teeing off on him. I had the overs in strike outs and he couldn't make it long enough to get the strike outs.

Some people said its because he pitched in the baseball classic and overused his arm or whatever. I mean guys use to pitch much more and not as many issues. So, I dont think we will k now until next year whether its just one of those year thongs sometimes happensor a much bigger issue

The pirates did this same bs to Gerrit Cole. Wanted him to pitch to contact. Face it. The pirates stink and are one of the few teams who can ruin a player.

@CJL1989
they actually have good offensive line up this year, they lead the league in hits and baa but their pitching is just hit or miss. Paul Skenes used to be an aced but this year he really stinks. HE should just retire.

@Way2Good
You realize he’s under 100 pitches for the season over 100+. Last year was over 800. The pirates did this to Cole wanted him to stop throwing hard.

I believe that Ray Searage was the pitching coach back then. Whole new staff and pitching coach today.
Is there proof that the Pirates are trying to make Skeenes a pitch to contact pitcher?

@undermysac
Obviously no proof. But the box score and the fact he isn’t throwing heat. If they aren’t converting him to a contact hitter, then he’s keeping his arm fresh for his new mega contract in a year or 2. He’s mentally checked out for the Buccos. He’s not hurt.
