    We have always said they used 4 man Rotations when Key and LC were young, and when they moved to 162 games in 1961 in AL they did not have to add more pitchers, also that year the NL still played 154 games so no effect until next year when they added 2 years.

    Which was also the year,1961 when Maris beat the Babe's homerun record in game 162 which became a big deal because Roger was not a popular player, another Yankee should of beat him but he went down in Sept. for rest of season at 54 homers, if Mickey had broken the record it would not have caused so much uproar.

    The year your talking about is 1966,Sutton along with Don and Sandy was also Claude Osteen as 4th starter, starts were 35-40-41-38=154 and Sandy last 2 years were both 41 starts, Don went 5 years in a row with 40 or more, Sutton and Osteen also did a few games where they pitched in relief.What did the Dodgers pay for the 2 pitchers with 81 starts,125,000 each,the year before they both went to owner and demanded a 25,000 buck raise,Koufax won 97 games his last 4 years before he was done with Tommy John injury which they could not fix yet. What would any of those guys make today,there is your History lesson and BTW I hated this team because they were always ahead of my Giants then, now I would just start rooting for my Dodgers,lol.

    1971 Orioles had a rotation with four 20 game winners and still lost the World Series to the Pirates.

    @JEG53

     It was Roberto Clemente and he played right field. There is an award named after him for community service. Big honor to the guy that gets it. After that series he was on a rescue mission to Puerto Rico, New Years Eve I believe and his plane disappeared. Great player, AND AN EVEN BETTER MAN.

    @KeyElement

     It was one of those events that you’ll never forget where you were when you got the news. I was at a New Years Eve party in a hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. We almost got thrown out because in the suite next to ours was ice skater Peggy Fleming, who complained about the noise coming from our suite. True story....

    Key, you need to approve friends requests. I guess everything was lost when they updated systems or something.

     I got you and JEG approved, working on the others, but no requests. I have to pursue them (or hunt them down with dogs).

    OK, I just sent 3 friend requests to regulars here. The ball is in their court now.

    Maybe this is not so bad. Many people have left he site or are operating under different names, and there were always those we changed opinions on anyway, so, good bye and good luck.

    JEG and I go back 12 years, are there any relationships longer than that?

    @LogCottage

     New Years Eve 72, man I was at a hell of a party in Conn.,one of those nights you will never forget,yeh Roberto, just could not bring it up, I was thinking it was the DR, guess I will get the phone.And the plane hit a mountain, Pilot flew right into it was what I remember. Lets Goggle and see what it tells us and yes

    @KeyElement he played Right Field, its only about 25 yards from where I said.

    You were much closer than I was, Plane left PR on its way to Nicaragua because of an earthquake and because of shape of plane, it had been in an accident Dec.2 and was really not repair at all,after take off was trying to come back to air field and ended up in the ocean.

    I could be wrong, JEG, but I remember that plane going into the water, not a mountain.

So sad, and so ironic, that his career and life ended at exactly 3,000 hits. The Roberto Clemente award is one that MLB's top humanitarian player every year is REALLY proud to achieve.

    @KeyElement

     Does any player today really stand up to the things he did?

    Hank Aaron leaves us today at 86 years old, 2 in one week, its a shame.

    @KeyElement

     You should read about the plane the owner rented to him, plus the owner made himself the co-pilot though he did not know how to fly, also they had no flight eng.,and the plane was 4200 lbs overweight, the repairs that were done was to change the propellers as they were bent when it went into the ditch. He ran the engines for 3 hours and did not even fly it after the accident, which no one knew anything about but the owner.So the Pilot is on his own with no help after he realize the plane is not going to fly,but with a co-pilot that could of helped they think it had a better chance to turn around and get back to airfield plus they also think he did not get a flight eng. because he would not of let the plane take off.

    Roberto paid 4000 bucks for his coffin, never knew any of that info but they would of hit the mountains since they were barely off the ground if he did not try to turn back, FAA was involved but never really cleared the plane which his widow sued and won but lost in the appeal and the SCOTUS would not hear the case.

    Bet you did not remember all that Key.

    @LogCottage

     I never gave that info to Key as you can now if you still want or I could wait until next time and give it to him,bigsmile  an_roll_laugh.

    Wow, Hank Aaron passes away.

    Nothing but deaths in 2020, and 2021 picks up right where 2020 ended.

    Right towards the end of December, a good buddy of mine passed away at 44. Left 2 kids behind.

    If you guys haven't heard, Lippsman passed away recently. A covers great. Visit the NHL forum when you have a chance. Weeble started a thread for him.

    Never knew the guy, but I am not yet complacent about death, which was heavy and traumatic in 2020 and has not yet let up. Sympathies to his friends, which he seems to have a lot of. Peace to all.

    Covid variants and mutations are coming along faster than we can keep up. Don't let your guard down or think we are out of the woods. Here in Maricovid County we have folks whining about how they can't get shot #2, but I am over 75 and can't get scheduled for shot #1 yet. Latest projection is MARCH. February is booked up and they don't know if they will have vaccines for those appointments. Operation Warp Speed for development has become Operation Snail's Pace for manufacture and distribution. CVS, Walgreen's and Wal Mart are set to go, but no vaccines except central Phoenix and Glendale. Politicians can't see past their own neighborhoods. Sick, sick, sick of it all.

    I have 4 family members that have health issues 60 and older,3 because of smoking and all live in Calif.,except one who is in Ohio, any of them get sick and it might not end well, my Dad who is a Trumpster, still can not believe he drank the Kool-Aid, but he could handle the virus better than alot of family but he has not been told anything about getting the vacccine and Newsome had said Calif.could do 65 or older now.The people giving the shots said he can say what he wants but we do not have the ability to do people at this time.

    So Dad at 89 no shot yet but let in phase 2 now, Trump lack of plan and buying the meds that he had his warp speed companies   working on only helped other Countries because they bought the meds, Don bought 100,000,000 which Calif. alone has 60 million people and they were given 1.2 million doses which is really 600,000,so yes Key I am with you, Politicians made sure they got shots and I also am sick, sick ,sick of it all.  angryan_arsedan_brick
