I'm hittin up Lake Geneva tomorrow odb. Hope the Smallmouth are biting. First day on the boat.

So far this year I've caught a 5-12 and 5-7 largemouth on a rattle trap. Got a 4-9 and a couple 4-1's on the chatterbait. A good amount of 3 pounders. 3 decent walleye as well. Most days were grinders from the bank. The 2 best days were the March and April full moons.

As of now all Bass tournaments in the country are postponed and a lot will be cancelled. A lot of people are predicting that Bass populations will have a healthy bounce back due to social distancing for covid19.

It's IRONic, a disease that transferred from animal/fish to humans is now improving animal/fish populations across the world. Mother Nature is doing it's thing. Life always finds a way. I see this pandemic as mother nature's human forest fire.

Also, many reports are suggesting that air and water pollution are at an all time low and getting better.

    peace

Did you know? Since 1950, the blue fin tuna population has plummeted by 97%. In 2017 many wildlife organizations pleaded to put the fish on the endangered species list. Donald Trump wanted no part of it. The Industry was too big of a $ maker.

This season was the first time something was done here in American waters, even though only 3% of the world market's blue fin tuna come from American waters. There is a 1 fish per day limit per boat.

Shark populations have also plummeted, nearly 27% in the past 5 years. This is mostly due to the Chinese thinking that "shark fin soup" prevents cancer and other diseases. There is no truth to this. Chinese fishermen continue to catch em, cut off the fins and dump the carcasses back into the ocean. There are videos and reports of the sharks still alive with no fin swimming for hours until their inevitable deaths.

“People speak sometimes about the "bestial" cruelty of man, but that is terribly unjust and offensive to beasts, no animal could ever be so cruel as a man, so artfully, so artistically cruel.”

Nothing any animal does is cruel. It is all driven by instinct. When they kill it is either for food or self defense, or a perceived threat, and there is never any form of torture. The very term bestial is ludicrous, since no animal on earth does anything unnecessary for it's own survival. They are low intelligence creatures programmed for survival and pro-creation, nothing else.

We really would do much better to stay on just the art of catching fish or any other old sport story and not get into how cruel Man can be,us old guys that study the old history of the forming of the USA heard things that did not make us look good as a founding nation, esp, killing anyone that tried to keep their land.

    so fish or old sports.

Glenn Beckert, Cub 2nd baseman has passed away. Beckert was part of the double play combination of Kessinger, Beckert and Banks.

Beckert was a 4 time all star. He was 80 years old.

Well now sac, I suppose it is possible JEG poaches fish but if so he probably needs a pouch to put them in. Cut him some slack, he is a dago from San Francisco and that is about as Califruity as it gets. He can probably claim his ancestors came the long way from Euro-wop and did not trample the rights or property of any Native Americans before the truly white invaders had already done the major damage. Even Mussolini had excuses, and JEG has understudied him and Trump both.

We have had nothing but Internet interruptions for three days and I will bet all you guys missed me terribly, with the possible exception of J**.

    I'm back bigsmile

You sure that is Abalone or just plain old Baloney? Or the favored Italian spelling, Balogna? I didn't think there was anything between the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate but dead hippies and gangsters. Thanx for the enlightenment.
