With the aforementioned 2 "value bet" wins tonight:
YTD "value bets" = 17 - 10 +10.64u
These are bets where basically it's a coin-flipper or possible a tiny edge for the team getting *significant* PLUS $$$
Not just betting underdog teams >>>>>HELL NO!!!!!
But specifically where sound handicapping indicates this is a coin-flipper, whereupon, given a 50/50 shot, it just makes common sense to take the PLUS MONEY if-and-only-if the payout is seriously worthy. Over the season I anticipate my wins/losses to be close to even - but by taking only significant PLUS $$$ - the winners will more than cancel out the losers and show good profit...

Boom. Miller gets out of a bases loaded jam. My Padres + money bet (remember sometimes the team with the better record, you SHOULD bet on) is looking yummy.

Both starters in the Subway series are on HOT STREAKS! Schlittler has 9 straight; Holmes has 8 straight. They are each due for a "bad outing" (or not) so I PASS! Don't need the stress!
So tonight it was the revived Yankee bats that handed HOLMES (NYM) his first "bad outing" of the season to end his hot streak...
It should be safe to resume considering HOLMES starts.
Schlittler's hot streak now extends to 10 games w/o a "bad outing"........YET!
I will neither bet on nor against him next start.

Saturday "in the park..." (always listed pitchers at the time of my post or it is OFF) AZ/COL un 11.5 -117 @pinn ... I anticipate this total to drop everywhere to 11 or even 10.5
Phl/Pitty ov 8 -111 @pinn ...this total will surely rise to 8.5 or maybe 9.0, which I would not bet

The following is a risky bet. If you tail bet SMALL!! Reason being is that ELDER is on a tenuous 9 game HOT STREAK which could end with a thud at any moment, against any opponent. Seriously. On paper it looks like a good bet. But what complicates things is that hot streak. They blow up sooner or later and it could be today against weakass Boston. Sure Atlanta is the much better team overall but that won't matter a tinker's damn if ELDER has an off day and implodes on the mound... The odds alone are not the concern. They are reasonable for risk. But the presence of a hot streak makes the risk of a "bad outing" and subsequent upset a bit more risky than my calculations of a +1.5 run edge would indicate. WHile I am whilling to accept higher risk than usual, YOU SHOULD NOT!!! For gosh sakes, if you bet on a team with a starter on a tenuous HOT STREAK, BET SMALL!!!!
Braves -137 @pinn ...I see a solid +1.5 run edge, but the risks are elevated!

This STARTER is riding a tenuous 9-gameHOT STREAK,
WITHOUT a BAD outing in that streak .....YET!
...but this should be anticipated to end at anytime!!!
Make no mistake, this dude and others I will identify in the future are GOOD starters - some of them exceptional! HOWEVER, probability says "consecutive streaks won't last long" especially AFTER 7 straight w/o a "bad outing"....All GOOD pitchers will, from time to time, have an "off" day and get roughed up - sometimes mauled - before they resume their stellar pitching performances again. CAN NOT be avoided. Best to avoid!
CAVEAT: even if the starter has a "badouting" doesn't mean his team will lose! It just seriously weakens their chances! But his team's bats could come thru with a lot of runs to save the day.....maybe! You decide.

Yankees -118 @pinn *BB (Rodon vs. Brazo, then Henderson for bulk ip)
NYY/NYM ov 8.0 -122 alt-total@pinn
With a decent breeze out to LC, (yesterday it was IN and they scored 5 against a very GOOD starter) I am figuring Yankees score at least 5 again (maybe more) yielding a reasonable shot at winning both. OTOH, if Yankees are outscored (lose) then it is highly likely the total goes OVER, so I would get a split.

I have the RAYS figured for 4.9+ runs so this will be scored among the angles I am tracking

Will be interesting to see tonight if Chris PADDACK (REDS) can alter his future and put on a good performance, after being jetisonned AGAIN by his 4th team... If not, his career will either end soon or be relegated to BP duty...

PADDACK had been mediocre at best the past few seasons...
