Yeah, it's a great entry on SQNM. Nothing has changed. What they are doing is not going to be effected by the economy and they have plenty of liquidity.
This will probably show my ignorance, but shouldn't the reduced crude prices be good for a company like DRYS?

Like a sheethead jumping the gun, I ante-d up this past Monday in after hours(20%) and immediately wrote Oct 30 calls against it.
Needless to say, I won't get called.
If there is a meltdown Monday, I will get in for the rest of the 80% and let it ride. 21ish is as low as it will technically go if there is a meltdown Monday.
I know you don't like SYY, WSC, and I believe that could be more personal than business related. The deal is this------they are the number one food distributor in the USA, pay a 22 cent q div, and are trading at 14 times earnings. Diesel is contained (for now), people have to eat in depressions, and their largest customer is the US gov't (schools, prisons, hospitals, military, nursing homes). The USA also is still the best food producer on the planet. I don't know what else to tell you.

My reason for not liking them is that many customers arent happy with their service..they lure places in with low prices and move them up afterwords thinking people wont change suppliers.
That and I think their product line is very poor selection wise and their house brand of product is below average.
SYY has a monopoly of sorts due to their economies of scale, similar to a Walmart. At 14 times earnings it surely isnt a bargain and that dividend isnt that impressive.
If they had any real competition they would be in trouble..but they are the real only public company who provides this service unfortunately.

Goddamn I wish I could short that one. Most overpriced symbol out there------no one knows how it's priced.
Will get clipped back below 100 once short covering takes place.
The simple fact of the matter is that what you say of SKF is unfortunately true for almost all stocks, particularly financials. No one yet knows how to valued much of what they hold, and none of the legislation passed can/will address that issue.
Until there is a way of truly assessing the value of the assets, anything one does is a crapshoot.
But I will buy SKF again as per usual whenever it gets below $100, simply because the search for a bottom in financials is going to take a very very long time, much longer than most have (and continue) to think.

Someone needs to take the CEO of Moodys aside and quietly inform him his services are no longer necessary....who believes them at this point anyway? Sheesh.
