force the banks to open their books, not this other crap ---------------------------------
CNBC's Bob Pisani reports that a note has been circulating on trading
desks concerning the SEC possibly seeking individual stock circuit
breakers. Supposedly, "if the closing price of a security declines 20
percent below its closing price from the prior trading session,
beginning the next trading session, all members and member
organizations are prohibited from short selling that security for three
trading days." No further information, though we're pretty sure we can
think of a few people who'd like to sign up for that shit.
wtf is wrong with the government?!!?!?!?

In this environment that is a good idea actually, but it is another bandaid way of looking at things.
They need to reinstate the uptick rule and actually enforce rules in place.
no government solution will work other than Chris Cox on monday morning saying "Attention banks...if you want government help or intervention you must open your books to the public so they can properly value your company. We will halt trading in your stock until we analyze your balance sheet"
